5 A family friendly garden The enclosed gardens are great for children and dogs with plenty of space for games and adventures. The lawn behind the house was made for sledging on a snowy day and the view from the seat around the ash tree is breath-taking as your eyes wander above the roof tops to the viaduct and then upwards to Ingleborough all from the bench in the garden! The flagged terrace at the back of the house is sheltered and private so sitting here for an afternoon cup of tea or a table laid out for a summer weekend lunch will be heaven. It gets the afternoon and evening sun and is a real little haven. There's a woodland banking which would be perfect for hide and seek and making dens and the walled garden is an absolutely delight. Push open the door and you enter a secret space, not visible from the house with stone outhouse, greenhouse, slate edged vegetable and herb beds, soft fruit and a central lawn with apple trees. Perfect for the avid gardener or for encouraging young children to learn about where their food comes from. The ample driveway is gated from the road with plenty of room for family and friends to park and turn off road. There's also the double garage which has an integral door into the house so if you're arriving home when it's wet to unload the shopping or with a sleeping baby you can do it all without getting cold and wet. Location and directions Travelling from Kirkby Lonsdale along the A65 towards Ingleton and before reaching the village turn left just opposite Country Harvest and follow the road. We're a big fan of Top Ten as well so here goes (we'll let you decide on the best order!): 1. The Ingleton Waterfalls Walk with woodland gorges and spectacular waterfalls - free access to all residents and the unique open air swimming pool (open May to September) 2. An integral part of village life - a primary school and a church are right in the heart of the village, there's also a local doctor's surgery 3. Secondary school age children have a choice - QES in Kirkby Lonsdale, Settle College in Settle or there's Sedbergh or Giggleswick independent schools 4. Two Co-op general stores as well as award winning Seasons bakery and Country Harvest with its great deli counter 5. Petrol filling station with a car wash 6. Pharmacy, newsagents and a selection of shops including an artisan pottery and a small garden centre 7. Good places to eat - from platters at The Old Post Office to tapas, Italian, Indian (eat in, take away or have delivered), fish and chips and a variety of pubs to work your way around! 8. Explore the great outdoors - a host of walks and cycle rides right from the doorstep - the famous Three Peaks and the Pennine Way which passes close by. Great access to White Scar Caves (Britain's longest show cave) for the more adventurous 9.
