Reduced range. and width can be obtained at Other settings of the microwave sensitivity adjustment (see Diagram 2). Seecting a Mounting Location 0 Best coverage wi be obtained with the Unit ocated so that the ikey direction of intruder motion is across the PIR pattern. Mount on a stabe, firm su.rface. Do not insta where exposed to direct sunight or directy above strong sources of heat. TOP VIEW i Avoid ocations containing objects ikey to produce rapid changes in temperature, such as centra heating. radiators, ducts or heaters, air conditioners. open fame, etc. Unit shoud not point toward a fuorescent ight. m: \ / : 0 Do not aim into areas where movement may be present during the armed period. *Make Sure that the detection area does not have obstructions (curtains, screens, arge furniture. pants, etc) which may bock the coverage pattern. Avoid running aarm wiring cose to heavy-duty eectri- Ca power cabes. 50 teet (15m) Diagram 3: DEECTON AREA MOUNTING 1. Remove the front cover by pressing a screwdriver bade firmy into the sot at the ower edge of the housing base (toward the sot s rear edge) and twisting sighty (see Diagram 2). 2. Carefuy remove the printed circuit board from the housing base. It is hed in pace by a singe screw near its center. Note how it rests in the base. 3. Break away the appropriate thin-waed wiring entry knockout in the base, depending on whether surface or conceaed wiring wi be run (see Diagram 5) and route the wiring through the opening before mounting the base. 4. Mount the base with two screws as shown at A-A in Diagram 4a (for corner mounting) or at B-B in Diagram f-- I,, 4b (for wa mounting). 5. Repace and secure the printed circuit board in the base. 4 Norma Mode ;n.\,i With one of the MODE SELECT PLUGS (two are provided) In the NORM& (1.2) position in the Norma/Latching Memory seect SDCket (See Diagram 6). the Wak Test (RED) LED wi ight and the aarm contacts wi open whenever the detector senses an aarm condition. The other MODE SELECT PLUG may opttonay be paced in the Monitor Mode socket for continua indication (via the YELLOW and GREEN LEDs) of the unit s rndividua response to microwave and PIR disturbances (see PR/Microwave Monitor Mode section beow. under TESTING). If it is desired to disabe the LEDs entirey during the use of the detector, do not insert either MODE SELECT PUUG. The aarm contacts wi sti function normay. Nota: To avoid oss of a MODE SELECT PLUG that is not n use, park it by pacing one of its pins in any vacant socket hoe within the unit. atching Memory Mode When used with a contro that can provide a suitabe switched signa to the detector s Contro Signa termina to indictate whether the main Protective system COntrOt is ARMED (+12V or open) or DISARMED (GND), the detector can provide Latching Memory Operation. A MODE SELECT PLUG must be paced in the LATCH (2-3) position in the Norma/Latching Memory Seect socket (see Diagram 6). In this mode, the Wak Test (RED) LED wi be inactive during the ARMED period, but shoud an intrusion occur in the protected area. the aarm contacts wi open and this occurrence wi be stored in the detector s memory. When the system is DISARMED. the LED wi ight steadiy if an aarm occurred earier and wi remain it unti ceared. The LED can be ceared by momentariy ARMING and the DISARMING the system (thus momentariy appying a contro signa). The LED wi then respond ON and OFF normay to motion detected in the protected in area during the DISARMED period. ~.,,.I MODE SELECT PLUG a= TESTING Wak Test Diagram 6: NORMAL/LATCHING MEMORY SELECT SOCKET IMPORTANT: Wait at east two mimutes after connecting power before attempting to wak test the unit. Testing of the detector shond be conducted with the protected area ceared of a peope. In some business estabishments, it wi be more convenient to do this after the business is Cosed. The protective system s contro shoud be DISARMED during the procedure to prevent reporting unwanted aarms. 1. Make sure a wiring connections are correct. 2. Conduct the wak test with the MODE SELECT PLUG in the Norma/Latching Memory Seect socket position that it wi occupy during actua use of the detector. Note: If LED Disabe operation wi be required, conduct the wak test with a MODE SELECT PLUG temporariy in NORMAL position and remove and park it at the competion of the test. (--J...

5 3. Test operation, with the cover in pace, by waking through the detection area and observing the Wak Test (RED) LED. It wi ight whenever motion is detected. Wak across the PR s beam pattern (See Dagram 2) as we as toward and away from the unit and aong the most ikey intruder routes, PIR/Microwave Monitor Mode Responses of the detector to its PIR and microwave sensors can be monitored individuay by pacing one of the MODE SELECT PLUGS in the detector s Monitor Mode socket and observing the YELLOW (Microwave) and GREEN (PIR) Monitor LEDs. This provides a means of checking for conditions that may resut in fase aarms. Normay, both monitor LEDs (YELLOW and GREEN) Shoud be Out when there is no apparent movement in the detection area. If the YELLOW (Microwave) LED ights, the microwave sensor may be responding to vibration, motion of an object. or a nearby fuorescent amp. If the GREEN (PIR) LED ights, the passive infrared Sensor may be responding to a heat source or airfow. Troube 1: INEfMENT AARM (LED OPERATIVE) Probahb csusas: A. Rapid temperature change.
