1 CIY of LOMPOC 2030 Generl Pln URBAN DEIGN ELEMEN INRODUCION AND AUHORIY he Urbn Design Element is n optionl element tht ddresses the visul chrcter of Lompoc. he Urbn Design Element provides dditionl direction, beyond tht of the Lnd Use Element, regrding the plnning re s development pttern, form, structure, nd sense-of-plce. he Urbn Design Element lso provides the bsis for esthetic regultion of public s well s privte lnd nd structures. he purpose of the Urbn Design Element is to estblish gols, policies nd implementtion mesures to mintin high qulity ppernce in the existing nd future built environment by protecting the nturl fetures nd lndmrks of the vlley, enhncing nd protecting the smll town chrcter of Old own nd ensuring high qulity design nd development. he City of Lompoc desires to preserve nd protect its historic heritge nd estblished form, s well s seeks to offer opportunities for cretive development. he topics ddressed in this Urbn Design Element include: Nturl fetures nd lndmrks of the Lompoc Vlley Old own Residentil neighborhoods Urbn streetscpes nd public plces Design nd development GOAL AND POLICIE Gol 1 Protect nd enhnce the nturl fetures nd lndmrks of the Lompoc Vlley. Policy 1.1 Policy 1.2 he City shll define, protect, nd link urbn fetures, rurl fetures, nd open spce res in the Lompoc Vlley including those identified on the Urbn Design Fetures Mp (Figure UD-1). he City shll seek to protect ridgelines nd hillsides which lie in view corridors, including those ridgelines identified on the cenic Ridgelines nd Rods Mp (Figure UD-2).
