1 Game Plan Task Frce Meeting # Meeting Summary Game Plan Update Denver s parks and recreatin has changed ver the past 13 years and plicy needs t be updated t reflect tday s scial and envirnmental realities. The Game Plan is part f Denveright, a cmmunity-driven planning prcess that will reflect ur cmmunity s values and desires by hlistically planning fr the next 20 years f imprtant land use, multi-mdal mbility, and parks and recreatin strategies. Denveright encmpasses fur new plans that will help establish a lngterm visin fr the City as well as identify near-term actins t help implement that visin: Blueprint Denver, Denver Game Plan, and Denver Mves: Peds/Trails, and Denver Mves: Transit. The primary gal f the Game Plan is t prepare fr the next 20 years t define new parks and recreatin centers, relevant prgrams, and hw existing assets are maintained and enhanced in the face f financial cnstraints, climate change, shifting demgraphics and increased visitr usage. The plan will fcus n a great parks system that is the result f intentinal planning, engaged cmmunity members, and public investments that inspire creativity, scial gatherings, and the enjyment f the envirnment. Game Plan Task Frce On Octber 27, 2016, the secnd meeting f the Game Plan Task frce cnvened in Grant Family Educatin Center in the Fur Mile Histric Park. The charge f the Task Frce is t guide the advancement f the update t the Game Plan and the verall prcess. The purpse f the secnd meeting f the Game Plan Task Frce was t discuss cnsultant prgress s far in Phase 1 (existing cnditins reprt). Task Frce cmments are summarized in the ntes belw. Executive DPR Directr Happy Haynes prvided a brief verview intrductin and her impressins regarding the Denveright Visining meeting held in early Octber. Learning Cnversatins abut Game Plan Between the first Task Frce meeting held in July and the secnd meeting, the Task Frce was asked t talk t 10 individuals abut the Game Plan update and get their thughts n the challenges Denver Parks and Recreatin faces. Key Pints frm the Facilitated Small Grup Discussin After the existing cnditins presentatin by Sasaki, Task Frce members were divided int three grups f arund 10 participants each. They participated in a facilitated exercise whereby the brainstrmed, shared and discussed majr themes arund parks and recreatin relating t the Game Plan. Part 1 asked What are the key issues that yu see facing the park and recreatin system tday. The Task Frce small grups then brainstrmed first n pst it ntes, then discussed. Part 2 asked What are the key gals yu wuld like Denver Parks and Recreatin t achieve in the next years. Belw is a summary f the key higher level discussin pints that were shared during the facilitated small grup activities.
