3 Safety Infrmatin 1. T reduce the risk f electric shck, ensure electricity has been turned ff at the circuit breaker r fuse bx befre beginning. 2. All wiring must be in accrdance with the Natinal Electrical Cde "ANSI/NFPA " and lcal electrical cdes. Electrical installatin shuld be perfrmed by a qualified licensed electrician. 3. The utlet bx and supprt structure must be securely munted and capable f reliably supprting a minimum f 35 lbs. Use nly UL-listed utlet bxes marked "FOR FAN SUPPORT." 4. The fan must be munted with a minimum f 7 ft. clearance frm the trailing edge f the blades t the flr. 5. Avid placing bjects in the path f the blades. 6. After making electrical cnnectins, spliced cnductrs shuld be turned upward and pushed carefully up int the utlet bx. The wires shuld be spread apart with the grunded cnductr and the equipment-grunding cnductr n ne side f the utlet bx and the ungrunded cnductr n the ther side f the utlet bx. 9. All setscrews must be checked and retightened where necessary befre installatin. 3

II yur ceiling Ian des nt have an existing UL-listed munting bx, then install ne using the fllwing instructins: iscnnect the pwer by remving the fuses r turning ff the circuit breakers. T hang yur Ian where there is an existing fixture but n ceiling jist, yu may need an installatin hanger bar (JJJ (nt included) as shwn abve. Secure the utlet bx (II) (nt included) directly t the building structure. Use apprpriate fasteners and materials (nt included). The utlet bx and its bracing must be able t fully supprt the weight f the mving fan (at least 35 lbs.). nt use a plastic utlet bx. Attach the munting plate (A) t the utlet bx (II) (nt Included) with tw screws and washers prvided with the utlet bx (II). Ensure the munting plate (A) is tight and secured. 8

9 Assembly - Hanging the Fan (cntinued) 3 Making the electrical cnnectins WARNING: T avid pssible electrical shck, be sure l,ll electricity Is turned ff at the main ruse bx befre wiring. Lt WARNING: Check t see that all cnnecuns are tight, Including grund, and that bare wire Is visible at the wire nuts (except fr the grund wire). If yu feel yu d nt have enugh electrical wiring knwledge r experience, have yur fan installed by a licensed electrician. Fllw the steps belw t cnnect the fan t yur husehld wiring. Use the plastic wire nuts (BB) with yur fan. Secure the wire nuts (BB) with electrical tape. Make sure there are n lse strands r cnnectins. Cnnect the grund cnductr f the 120V supply (this may be a bare wire r a wire with green clred insulatin) t the green grund lead(s) f the tan. Cnnect the fan mtr white wire t the supply white (neutral) wire using a plastic wire nut (BB). Cnnect the fan mtr black wire and the blue wire t the supply black (ht) wire using a plastic wire nut (BB). Turn the wire nut cnnectins upward, spreading them apart s the green (grund) wire and the white wire will be n ne side f the utlet bx (II), the black and blue wires will be n the ther side, and push carefully up int the utlet bx (II). 9

10 Assembly - Hanging the Fan (cntinued) 4 Finishing the fan installatin Swing the mtr assembly (B) up int psitin under the mtr munting plate (KK). Secure the mtr munting plate (KK) t the munting plate (A) with the screws and lck washer (CC) prvided. 5 Attaching the mtr husing t the munting plate Carefully lift the mtr husing (C) nt the munting plate (A), prperly align the hles and tighten the mtr husing (C) with the fur screws and lck washer () supplied. 10

11 Assembly - Attaching the Fan Blades 6 Attaching the blades t the blade arms Attach the blades () t the blade arms (E) using the three blade attachment screws and fiber washers (AA). Start a screw and fiber washer (AA) int the blade arm (E), but d nt tighten. Repeat fr the tw remaining blade attachment screws and fiber washers (AA). Tighten each screw securely starting with the center screw. Make sure the blade (J is straight. 12 Assembly - Installing the Light Kit 8 Attaching the light kit t the switch husing CAUTION: Befre slarllng lnslallaun, discnnect the pwer by turning ff the cln:utt breaker r remving the fuse at the fuse bx. Turning pwer ff using the fan switch Is nt sufficient t prevent electric shck. Remve the three light kit munting screws (FF) frm the light kit (F) and keep these screws. While hlding the light kit (F) under yur fan mtr assembly (B), lcate tw single white and blue wires in the switch husing labeled "FOR LIGHT". Make the plarized plug cnnectins: - White t white - Blue t black Carefully push all wires back int the switch husing. Install the light kit (Fl nt the switch husing with the three light kit munting screws (FF) prvided. Be sure t tighten all screws. 9 Installing the light bulb and glass shade Install 1 x 60W (r CFL equivalent) Medium base bulb (nt included). Munt the Crystal shade (G) t the light kit (F) by unscrewing partially the thumbscrews (GG) n the light kit (F). Then insert the Crystal (G) and gently tighten the thumbscrews (GG) by hand evenly t the Crystal(G). nt vertighten. I, 12

13 (i>eratin PULL CHAIN OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS Attach the tw pull chains and fbs (HH) t the pull chains lcated n the switch husing {LL). Tum n the pwer and check the peratin f the fan. The pull chain cntrls the fan speed as fllws: 1 pull - High, 2 pulls - Medium, 3 pulls - Lw and 4 pulls - Off. Speed settings fr warm r cl weather depend n factrs such as the rm size, ceiling height, number f fans, and s n. T turn the light kit n r ff, pull the chain (HH) that is attached t the switch husing (LL). REVERSE SWITCH OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS The reverse switch is lcated n the surface f the switch husing. This switch cntrls directins: frward (switch dwn) r reverse (switch up). NOTE: Wait fr the Ian t stp befm reversing the directin f the blade r1atln. Warm weather - (Cunterclckwise irectin) A dwnward air flw creates a cling effect. This allws yu t set yur air cnditiner n a warmer setting withut affecting yur cmfrt. Cl weather - (Clckwise irectin) An upward air flw mves warm air ff the ceiling. This allws yu t set yur heating unit n a cler setting withut affecting yur cmfrt. 13

14 Care and Cleaning Check the supprt cnnectins, brackets, and blade attachments twice a year. Make sure they are secure. Because f the fan"s natural mvement, sme cnnectins may becme lse ver time. It is nt necessary t remve the fan frm the ceiling. Clean yur fan peridically. Use nly a sft brush r lint-free clth t avid scratching the finish. The plating is sealed with a lacquer t minimize disclratin r tarnishing. (Optinal) Apply a light cat f furniture plish t the metal blades. (Optinal) Cver small scratches with a light applicatin f she plish. n! Use water when cleaning. Water culd damage the mtr, r the wd, r pssibly cause an electrical shck. Apply il t yur fan r mtr. The mtr has permanently-lubricated sealed ball bearings. Trubleshting Prblem WARNING: Make sum U1e IM)W8r is ff at the electrical panel bx befre yu attempt any repairs. Refer t step 3 "Making the electrical cnnechns" n page 9. The fan will nt start. Slutin Check the main and branch circuit fuses r breakers. Check the line wire cnnectins t the fan and switch wire cnnectins in the switch husing. Make sure all mtr husing screws are snug. Make sure the screws that attach the fan blade arm t the mtr hub are tight. Make sure the wire nut cnnectins are nt rattling against each ther r the interir wall f the switch husing. The fan sunds nisy. Allw a 24-hur "breaking-in" perid. Mst nises assciated with a new fan disappear during this time. H using the celling light kit, make sure the screws securing crystal shade are light. Check that the light bulbs are als secure. Make sure there is a shrt distance frm the ceiling t the canpy. It shuld nt tuch the ceiling. Make sure yur ceiling bx is secure and that rubber islatr pads are used between the munting bracket and utlet bx. 14

15 Trubleshting (cntinued} Prblem The fan wbbles. Slutin Verify that all blades and blade bracket screws are secure (mst fan wbble prblems are caused by lse parts). Once the fan is prperty installed, run the ceiling fan fr 10 minutes t let the fan self-adjust. If wbble ccurs after running the fan fr 1 O minutes, verify blade level using the fllwing prcess: - Select a pint n the ceiling abve the tip f ne f the blades, then select any fan blade and measure frm the center f the selected blade t the pint n the ceiling. Rtate the fan until the next blade is psitined and repeat the measurement using the same pint frm the celling fr every blade. Measurement deviatins shuld be within 1/8 In. - If all deviatins are less than 1/8 in. and the fan cntinues t wbble, please call Custmer Service t rder a cmplimentary Blade Balancing Kit. - If deviatin is greater than 1/8 in., please call Custmer Service t rder cmplimentary replacements f yur brackets. 15
