11 Setting and using the ven prgrammer/timer Selecting manual peratin mde After yur appliance is cnnected t yur mains supply fr the first time, the numbers n the timer display will flash. Befre yu can select a cking functin r set a temperature, yu must set the appliance int manual peratin mde. T select manual peratin mde, press the manual peratin buttn (8) n the cntrl panel. Setting the time f day After setting yur ven fr manual peratin, yu shuld als set the time f day. Use the minus buttn (9) and plus buttn (10) t adjust the time that appears in the display. After getting the display t the crrect time, release the minus and plus buttns. After five secnds the time will fix in the display and yu will be able t use yur ven. The manual peratin symbl (18) will light n the ven prgrammer/timer display. Befre first use T remve any residue frm the ven that may have been left frm the manufacturing prcess, yu shuld select either the fan r cnventinal ven functin and turn the thermstat dial t its maximum temperature setting. Fr the secndary ven yu shuld select the cnventinal ven functin and select its maximum temperature setting. It is perfectly nrmal fr a smell t be prduced during this prcess. Yu shuld make sure that any windws in the rm are left pen during this prcess. It is advisable fr yu nt t remain in the rm whilst the burning ff prcess is taking place. Yu shuld leave each ven n maximum setting fr minutes. IMPORTANT: Yu shuld nt burn ff bth vens simultaneusly. 11
12 Setting the minute minder functin (main and secndary ven) Yu are able t set the minute minder at any time, regardless f whether an ven functin has been selected. Yu can set a perid f time using the minute minder functin and an alarm will sund when this perid f time has elapsed. Press the minute minder buttn (5), the display will shw a value f 00:00. Set the perid f time that yu wish the minute minder t cuntdwn fr, by using the minus (9) and plus (10) buttns. Once the display has gt t yur desired cuntdwn time, let g f the minus and plus buttns. The minute minder symbl (17) will appear n the timer display. Once a cuntdwn time has been set, it is pssible t shrten r lengthen the time by using the minus r plus buttns. An alarm will sund when the cuntdwn time has elapsed. The alarm can be silenced by pressing the minute minder buttn r manual peratin buttn Imprtant: The ven will cntinue t heat nce the alarm has been silenced. If yu have finished cking, then yu shuld turn the ven functin selectr and thermstat cntrl knb t 0. 12
13 Setting the duratin functin (main ven nly) This functin will allw yu t set a cuntdwn time similar t the minute minder functin. Hwever the ven will n lnger cntinue t heat, nce the cuntdwn perid has elapsed. Use the main ven thermstat cntrl knb (15) t set the temperature that yu require. The manual peratin symbl (18) will appear n the display. Use the main ven functin selectin knb (13) t select the mde f cking that yu require. It is then pssible t set the duratin f the cking time that yu require. Press the duratin buttn (6) and the display will shw a value f 00:00. Set the perid f time that yu wish the duratin functin t cuntdwn fr, by using the minus (9) and plus (10) buttns. Once the display has gt t yur desired cuntdwn time, let g f the minus and plus buttns. The cuntdwn will start immediately and the wrd AUTO will appear n the timer display. Once a cuntdwn time has been set, it is pssible t shrten r lengthen the time by using the minus r plus buttns. An alarm will sund when the cuntdwn time has elapsed and the ven will switch ff. The wrd AUTO will flash and the heating symbl will disappear. T silence the audible signal and return the ven t manual peratin mde, yu shuld press the manual peratin buttn. 14 Setting the end ck functin (main ven nly) This functin is similar t the duratin functin, hwever instead f selecting a perid f time that yu wish the ven t switch ff after. Yu select the time f day that yu wish the ven t switch ff at. Use the main ven thermstat cntrl knb (15) t set the temperature that yu require. The manual peratin symbl (18) will appear n the display. Use the main ven functin selectin knb (13) t select the mde f cking that yu require. Press the end ck buttn (7) and the display will shw a value f 00:00. Set the time f day that yu wish the ven t stp cking at by using the minus (9) and plus (10) buttns. The timer will calculate hw lng the cking time will be, based n the time f day that yu have selected and shw it n the display. Once the display has gt t the time f day that yu want the ven t stp cking at, let g f the minus and plus buttns. The cuntdwn will start immediately and the wrd AUTO will appear n the timer display. When the time is set, it can be mdified by pressing the minus and plus buttns. When the time f day reaches the end f cking time that yu set, the ven will switch ff and an alarm will sund. The wrd AUTO will flash and the heating symbl will disappear. T silence the audible signal and return the ven t manual peratin mde, yu shuld press the manual peratin buttn. The wrd AUTO will disappear frm the display and the manual peratin symbl will appear instead. Imprtant: If yu d nt turn the thermstat cntrl knb and ven functin selectin knb t 0. 15 Setting the start and end time functin (main ven nly) This functin will allw yu t set a time in the future that the ven switches n at and a time that the ven will switch ff at. Use the main ven thermstat cntrl knb (15) t set the temperature that yu require. The manual peratin symbl (18) will appear n the display. Use the main ven functin selectin knb (13) t select the mde f cking that yu require. Press the duratin buttn (6) and the display will shw a value f 00:00. It will autmatically switch itself n, nce it reaches the time f day that it has calculated. When the time f day reaches the end f cking time that yu set, the ven will switch ff and an alarm will sund. The wrd AUTO will flash and the heating symbl will disappear. T silence the audible signal and return the ven t manual peratin mde, yu shuld press the manual peratin buttn. The wrd AUTO will disappear frm the display and the manual peratin symbl will appear instead. Imprtant: If yu d nt turn the thermstat cntrl knb and ven functin selectin knb t 0. Then the appliance will cntinue t perate as sn as yu press the manual peratin buttn. Adjusting the audible signal T adjust the level f the audible signal, whilst it is sunding press the minus buttn. It will adjust thrugh the 3 available sund levels. Release the minus buttn when it reaches the level that yu want and the sund level f the audible signal will be set. 15
16 Selecting a cking functin and temperature Selecting manual peratin mde After yur appliance is cnnected t yur mains supply fr the first time, the numbers n the timer display will flash. Befre yu can select a cking functin r set a temperature, yu must set the appliance int manual peratin mde. T select manual peratin mde, press the manual peratin buttn (8) n the cntrl panel. Selecting a main ven functin The main ven functin selectin knb shuld be used t select the particular mde f cking that yu require. The appliance will utilise different elements within the ven cavity, depending n the ven functin that yu select. When a functin is selected, the main ven pwer indicatr light will cme n. Main ven functins OVEN LIGHT: Separate light cntrl which allws the light t be switched n, even when the ven is switched ff. LOWER ELEMENT: This methd f cking uses the lwer element t direct heat upward t the fd. Fr slw-cking recipes r fr warming up meals. CONVENTIONAL OVEN (tp and lwer element): This methd f cking prvides traditinal cking, with heat frm the tp and lwer elements. This functin is suitable fr rasting and baking n ne shelf nly. CONVECTION OVEN AND FAN: This methd f cking prvides traditinal cking with heat frm the tp and the lwer element, it als utilses the circulatin fan. This ensures a fast and even distributin f the heat. Suitable fr light and delicate baking, such as pastries. 16
17 HALF GRILL MODE: This methd f cking utilises the inner sectins f the tp element, which directs heat dwnwards nt the fd. This functin is suitable fr grilling prtins f bacn, tast and meat etc. FULL GRILL: This methd f cking utilises the inner and uter parts f the tp element, which directs heat dwnwards nt the fd. This functin is suitable fr grilling medium r large prtins f sausages, bacn, steaks, fish etc. FAN AND GRILL: This methd f cking utilises the tp element in cnjunctin with the fan, which helps t prvide a quick circulatin f heat. This functin is suitable where quick brwning is required and sealing the juices in, such as steaks, hamburgers, sme vegetables etc. FAN OVEN: This methd f cking uses the circular element while the heat is distributed by the fan. This results in a faster and mre ecnmical cking prcess. The fan ven allws fd t be cked simultaneusly n different shelves, preventing the transmissin f smells and tastes frm ne dish nt anther. DEFROST MODE: The fan runs withut heat t reduce the defrsting time f frzen fds. The time required t defrst the fd will depend n the rm temperature, the quantity and type f fd. Always check fd packaging fr the defrsting instructins. Main ven thermstat cntrl knb The ven thermstat cntrl knb sets the required temperature f the ven. It is pssible t regulate the temperature within a range f C. Turn the cntrl knb clckwise. 17
18 Selecting a secndary ven functin The secndary ven functin selectin knb shuld be used t select the particular mde f cking that yu require. 19 Oven perating light (main and secndary ven) This light will cme n t indicate that the ven s heating elements are in peratin. The light will turn ff when the temperature set n the thermstat cntrl knb has been reached. It will cycle n and ff thrughut the cking time. Yu shuld nt place fd inside the cavity, until the crrect cking temperature has been reached. Cking guidelines Please refer t the infrmatin given n fd packaging fr guidance n cking temperatures and times. Once familiar with the perfrmance f yur appliance, temperatures and times can be varied t suit persnal preference. Yu shuld pre-heat the ven and nt place fd inside f it until the ven perating light has gne ff. Yu can chse nt t pre- heat when using the fan ven mde; hwever yu shuld extend the cking time given n the fd packaging by at least ten minutes. If yu are using the fan ven functin, then yu shuld fllw the infrmatin given n the fd packaging fr this particular mde f cking. IMPORTANT: Yu shuld pre-heat the ven if yu are baking, regardless f whether yu are using the cnventinal ven r fan ven functins. If there is n guidance given n the fd packaging specifically fr cking in fan ven mde, yu can generally reduce the cking time and temperature by 10% frm the infrmatin given fr cnventinal ven cking. Make sure that frzen fds are thrughly thawed befre cking, unless the instructins n the fd packaging advise that yu can ck frm frzen. Befre cking, check that any accessries that are nt required are remved frm the ven. Place cking trays in the centre f the ven and leave gaps between the trays t allw air t circulate. Try t pen the dr as little as pssible t view the dishes. The ven light will remain n during cking. 19
20 Warnings Keep the ven dr clsed when using a grill functin. D nt use aluminium fil t cver the grill pan r heat items wrapped in aluminium fil under the grill. The high reflectivity f the fil culd ptentially damage the grill element. Yu shuld als never line the base f yur ven with aluminium fil. During cking, never place pans r ckware directly nt the bttm f yur ven. They shuld always be placed n the shelves prvided. The grill heating element becmes extremely ht during peratin, avid tuching it inadvertently when handling the fd which yu are grilling. Imprtant: Be careful when with ht parts and steam. pening the dr, t avid cntact The drip tray handle shuld nly be used t repsitin the drip tray and NOT fr remving it frm the ven cavity. When remving the drip tray, yu shuld ALWAYS use an ven glve. The drip tray handle shuld nt be left in psitin when the appliance is switched n. 20
21 Cleaning and maintenance Cleaning peratins must nly be carried ut when the ven is cl. The appliance shuld be discnnected frm yur mains supply befre cmmencing any cleaning prcess. The ven shuld be thrughly cleaned befre it is perated fr the first time and after each use. This will avid residual fd stuffs becming baked n the ven cavity. After residues have been baked n several times, they are far mre difficult t remve. Never clean the ven surfaces by steam cleaning. The ven cavity shuld nly be cleaned with warm sapy water, using either a spnge r sft clth. N abrasive cleaners shuld be used. Any stains that may appear n the bttm f the ven will have riginated frm fd splashes r spilt fd, these splashes ccur during the cking prcess. These culd pssibly be a result f the fd being cked at an excessively high temperature r being placed in ckware that is t small. Yu shuld make sure that the cking temperature that is selected is apprpriate fr the fd that yu are cking. Yu shuld als ensure that the fd is placed in an adequately sized dish and use the drip tray where apprpriate. Outer parts f the ven shuld nly be cleaned with warm sapy water, using either a spnge r sft clth. N abrasive cleaners shuld be used. If yu use any frm f ven cleaner n yur appliance, then yu must check with the manufacturer f the cleaner that it is suitable fr use n yur appliance. Any damage that is caused t the appliance by a cleaning prduct will nt be fixed by Baumatic free f charge, even if the appliance is within the guarantee perid. 21
22 Replacing the ven bulb (main ven) IMPORTANT: The ven must be discnnected frm yur mains supply befre yu attempt t either remve r replace the ven bulb. Remve all ven shelves, the drip tray and the side rack that is n the same side as the ven light. Using a screwdriver, remve the lamp cver (1). Unscrew the bulb (2) clckwise and remve it frm its hlder. Replace the bulb with a 25 W/300 C, screw type pigmy. D nt use any ther type f bulb. Place the lamp cver back int psitin. There is a curve n ne side f the cver; this shuld be n the right hand side as the cver ges back int place. Replacing the ven bulb (secndary ven) IMPORTANT: The ven must be discnnected frm yur mains supply befre yu attempt t either remve r replace the ven bulb. Remve all ven shelves and the drip tray. Unscrew the lamp cver. Unscrew the bulb and remve it frm its hlder. Replace the bulb with a 25 W/300 C, screw type pigmy. 22
23 D nt use any ther type f bulb. Screw the lamp cver back int its riginal psitin. Remving the ven dr fr cleaning T facilitate the cleaning f the inside f the ven and the uter frame f the ven, the dr can be remved as fllws:- The hinges (A) have tw mvable blts n them (B). If yu raise bth f the mvable blts (B), then the hinges (A) are released frm the ven husing. Yu shuld grip the sides f the dr at the centre and then incline it slightly twards the ven cavity and then by pull it gently away frm the ven cavity. IMPORTANT: Yu shuld make sure that the dr is supprted at all times and that yu place the dr n sme padded material whilst cleaning it. The ven dr and dr glass shuld nly be cleaned using a damp clth and a small amunt f detergent. The clth MUST NOT have cme int cntact with any frm f cleaning prduct r chemical previusly. T refit the dr yu shuld slide the hinges back int their slts and pen the dr fully. IMPORTANT: The mvable blts (B) must be clsed back int their riginal psitins befre clsing the dr. Take care nt t disldge the hinge lcking system when remving the dr, as the hinge mechanism has a strng spring. D nt immerse the dr in water at any time. 23
24 INSTALLATION The installatin must be carried ut by a suitably qualified persn, in accrdance with the current versin f the fllwing. IEE Wiring Regulatins. Electricity At Wrk Regulatins. Befre cnnecting the appliance, make sure that the supply vltage marked n the rating plate crrespnds with yur mains supply vltage. WARNING: THIS APPLIANCE MUST BE EARTHED. This appliance shuld be wired int a 30 A duble ple switched fused spur utlet, having 3 mm cntact separatin and placed in an easily accessible psitin adjacent t the appliance. The spur utlet must still be accessible even when yur ven is lcated in its husing. T cnnect the ven pwer crd, lsen and remve the cver n the terminal blck, in rder t gain access t the cntacts inside. Make the cnnectin, securing the crd in place with the cable clamp prvided and then immediately clse the terminal blck cver again. If yu have t change the ven pwer crd, the earthing (yellw/green) cnductr must always be 10 mm lnger than the line cnductrs. Care must be taken t ensure that the temperature f the mains supply cable des nt exceed 50 C. If the mains supply cable is damaged, then it must be replaced by an apprpriate replacement. Cable type: H05 RRF 3 cre x 2.5 mm² 24
25 Cnnecting the mains supply cable The mains terminal blck is lcated n the rear f the ven and the terminals are accessible by remving the terminal blck cver. Yu shuld remve the cver screw t access this. The cable cnnectins must be made in accrdance with the diagram belw:- 1, 2 and 3 are the live cnnectin, 4 and 5 are the neutral cnnectin and the remaining ne is the earth cnnectin. The live wire MUST be placed in cnnectin number 1. The neutral wire MUST be placed in cnnectin number 4. The earth wire MUST be placed in the cnnectin marked with the symbl. The brass links must be psitined as marked in the diagram abve and nce established ALL terminal screws must be tightened dwn firmly. 25
26 If when the ven is first switched n, it des nt functin crrectly, yu shuld recheck that the terminal screws are all fully tightened between the links. This shuld be dne befre cntacting the Baumatic Service Department. IMPORTANT: The appliance must NOT be cnnected t the mains supply by means f a 13A plug and scket. The cable can be lped if necessary, but make sure that is nt kinked r trapped when the ven is in psitin. Care must be taken t avid the cable being in cntact with ht parts f the appliance. Replacing the mains supply cable If the mains supply cable is damaged, then it must be replaced with a suitable replacement. The mains supply cable shuld be replaced in accrdance with the fllwing instructins: Switch the appliance ff at the cntrl switch. Open the terminal blck n the back f the ven. Unscrew the terminal screws fixing the cable. Replace the cable with ne f the same length and in accrdance with the specificatin given n page 24. The green-yellw earth wire must be cnnected t the terminal marked. It must be abut 10 mm lnger than the live and neutral wires. The blue neutral wire must be cnnected t the terminal marked with letter (N) - the live wire must be cnnected t the terminal marked with letter (L). 26
27 Installing the ven int the kitchen cabinet Psitining the appliance Ensure that the aperture that yu will be fitting the ven int is f the size given in the abve diagram. The ven must be fitted int an ven husing with the ventilatin cut-uts shwn in the Ventilatin requirements sectin n the next page. Ensure that the rear panel f the furniture husing unit has been remved. 27
28 Ventilatin requirements (Figure shws the ventilatin and cut-ut requirements fr the installatin f the appliance int a tall husing unit). Ensure that the ven has been securely fixed int the husing unit. The fixing f the ven int the husing is made by using fur screws. These shuld be screwed thrugh the ven cabinet and int the husing unit. 28
29 My appliance isn t wrking crrectly The ven isn t cming n. * Check that the ven is in manual peratin mde. * Check that yu have selected a cking functin and a cking temperature. There appears t be n pwer t the ven and grill. * Check that the appliance has been cnnected t the electrical mains supply crrectly. * Check that the mains fuses are in wrking rder. * * Check that the perating instructins fr setting the time f day and putting the appliance int manual peratin mde have been fllwed. The grill functin wrks but the main ven des nt. Check that yu have selected the crrect cking functin. The grill and tp ven element is nt wrking, r cuts ut fr lng perids f time during use. * Allw the ven t cl fr apprximately 2 hurs. Once cl, check whether the appliance is again wrking prperly. My fd is nt cking prperly * * * Ensure that yu are selecting the crrect temperature and the crrect cking functin fr the fd that yu are cking. It may be apprpriate t adjust yur cking temperature by plus r minus 10 C, t achieve the best cking results. My fd is nt cking evenly Check that the ven has been installed crrectly and is level. Check that the crrect temperatures and shelf psitins are being used. 29
30 The ven lights is nt wrking * Refer t page and fllw the Replacing the ven bulb sectin. I am getting cndensatin in my ven * Steam and cndensatin is a natural by prduct f cking any fd with high water cntent, such as frzen fd, chicken etc. * Yu may get cndensatin in the ven cavity and frming between the ven dr glasses. This is nt necessarily a sign that the ven is nt wrking crrectly. * D nt leave fd in the ven t cl after it has been cked and the ven has been switched ff. * Use a cvered cntainer, where practical, when cking t reduce the amunt f cndensatin that frms. IMPORTANT: If yur appliance appears nt t be perating crrectly, then yu shuld discnnect it frm yur mains supply and then cntact the Baumatic Service Department n telephne number (0118) DO NOT ATTEMPT TO REPAIR THE APPLIANCE YOURSELF. Please nte that if an engineer is asked t attend whilst the prduct is under guarantee and finds that the prblem is nt the result f an appliance fault, then yu may be liable fr the cst f the call ut charge. The appliance must be accessible fr the engineer t perfrm any necessary repair. If yur appliance is installed in such a way that an engineer is cncerned that damage will be caused t the appliance r yur kitchen, then he will nt cmplete a repair. This includes situatins where appliances have been tiled in, sealed in with sealant, have wden bstructins placed in frnt f the appliance, like plinths.
