1 Interface mdules Interface mdules fr intelligent fire detectin and alarm systems An analgue fire system is usually designed with a number f lps, each beginning and ending at the fire panel. The integrity f lp wiring is vital fr data transmissin, where a shrt circuit between lp wires wuld be very serius. ence it is necessary t have islating circuits psitined in the lp in rder t islate any sectin cntaining a shrt circuit, until the fault is rectified. The islatr detailed here is plarity sensitive and will nrmally switch ut the negative arm f the lp, when a shrt circuit is sensed. Nrmally the islatr allws current flw in bth directins. If the lp vltage falls beneath a preset threshld the islatr will switch pen t islate the incming and utging lines. The device will test the islated sectin regularly and will recnnect when the fault is cleared. Islating devices are prvided either as standalne prducts r integral within many interfaces, detectin r sunder units. Interfaces with integral islatrs and detectrs fitted t islating bases will stay peratinal when the adjacent sectin f lp is islated. The islating unit, when islating, will display a yellw fault indicatin LED. It is gd practice fr devices wired between tw islatrs t be lcated in the same zne.
