This may be supprted by the cntractrs agreed wrk methd statement. ü Raise a permit t wrk cvering all safety cncerns ü Cntinuusly mnitr the impact f the building wrk n the general fire safety precautins, such as the increased risk frm quantities f cmbustible materials and accumulated waste and maintaining adequate means f escape. ü Only allw the minimum materials necessary fr the wrk in hand within r adjacent t yur building. ü Activities invlving ht wrk such as welding, flame cutting, use f blw lamps r prtable grinding equipment can pse a serius fire hazard and need t be strictly cntrlled when carried ut in areas near flammable materials. 3. They fitted the current system and carry ut an annual inspectin in January each year. The premises are fitted with satisfactry emergency signs and fire fighting equipment. The fire fighting equipment is under a full maintenance cntract (Cwley Fire prtectin). Page 8 f 14

9 Fire-fighting Althugh fire etinguishers are prvided, ur plicy is nt t fight fires but t evacuate immediately. Escape rutes See diagrams at Anne A. Lighting Premier Electrical are ur cntracted emergency lighting specialists. They will carry ut an annual inspectin in January each year. 4. Fire drills will be held at least nce per term and these will be recrded in the Fire Actin Bk GENERAL DIRECTIONS The warning is the cntinuus ringing f the electric sirens situated in all parts f the building. These are activated by breaking the glass frnt f ne f the alarm bes which are placed in crridrs. Breaking the glass releases a spring-laded switch which autmatically rings all bells in the building. Any member f the teaching r nn-teaching staff discvering a fire shuld give the alarm. As sn as the fire alarm sunds all children and adults must stp what they are ding and walk ut f the building thrugh the nearest eit. The staff member nearest t a schl telephne is t dial 999 and request the fire service. Eit rutes fr each classrm r activity area are displayed apprpriately. The teacher in charge f the class takes with them t the assembly pint, generally at the frnt f the schl. All staff and pupils are t face the beach. Class teachers are respnsible fr carrying ut an immediate rll cunt. Page 9 f 14

Pupils shuld walk in and ut f schl sensibly and line up quietly. If the usual eit pint fr a class is blcked fr any reasn then the nearest available eit shuld be used. Lunchtime Fire Prcedure Staff members n duty in the dining area shall evacuate all children frm the building. Any staff members in ther areas f the building shall evacuate, the Fire Officer shall ensure that tilets are vacated. The Headteacher will assign a member f staff t each flr t check, as far as is reasnably practicable, that the rest f the building is vacated. A fire drill will be held nce each term. Page 10 f 14
