EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT: FIRE, EMERGENCY RESPONSE SERVICES, EVACUATION, ASSIGNED PERSONNEL 1.a General infrmatin If an emergency ccurs, a plan is in place which will enable the situatin t be handled safely. In each f the varius branches f the Fndazine Kessler, a number f persns have been trained t deal with a situatin f average risk due t fire. These persns make up the Emergency Respnse Team. Every persn visiting the branches f the Fndazine is urged t fllw their instructins in case f emergency. The members f the Emergency Respnse Team are listed in the last chapter f this plan. Persns wh have been appinted as members f the team cannt refuse t take up such appintment withut an acceptable reasn fr their refusal. Als, the FBK has taken the fllwing steps t ensure that its branches cmply with the safety standards prescribed by current regulatins: - installatin f fire detectrs in each branch and gas detectrs in the areas where they are required, with centralizatin f alarms at statins that are cnstantly manned; - alarm signaling and emergency exit labeling in every peratinal situatin; - installatin f suitable escape paths t the utside f the buildings, and installatin f fireprf drs fr particular sectrs; - installatin f suitable fire extinguishing systems, cmplete with hydrants and prtable extinguishers; - installatin f adequate cntainment systems that limit the risks which may be caused by the use and strage f chemicals, gasses and surces f radiatin; - preparatin and display f a plan fr dealing with emergencies, which als includes instructins fr specific actins t be taken by persnnel in special psitins; - display f flr plans, with cmplete emergency infrmatin, in mst frequented areas - presence f a team suitably trained t use firefighting systems, deal with emergency situatins, and ensure that buildings are evacuated when necessary; - implementatin f an infrmatin and cntrl system fr all persnnel wh wrk at the FBK t infrm the staff f the risks and f the actins t be taken in emergency situatins.

EMERGENCY PROCEDURE In case f fire r ther emergency that may endanger persns and prperty, everyne at the Fndazine s premises must fllw these instructins: Push ne f the emergency buttns lcated in the halls (break the glass ver the marked buttns) Ntify persnnel in the Drman Service abut the emergency situatin: - Cntinuusly manned Drman Service at the branch at Via Smmarive in Pv: tel. 385 If yu have truble, directly ntify the cntact persns at the FBK, i.e.: - The Persn in charge f the Safety, Prtectin and Preventin Service: tel When the FBK is clsed, cntact the persn n call. Ask the Drman Service at the Pv branch fr his mbile phne number. 2.a In case f an emergency alarm If pssible, shut dwn all systems and equipment, and suspend any peratin that culd cmprmise safety. Leave the building by keeping calm and escrting any guests wh may be in the premises. Fllw the clsest signaled escape path. Handicapped persns must be escrted by the Fndazine s representative wh is hsting them. 2.b In case f fire D nt use the elevatr (lift). If yu are alne, d nt enter areas filled with smke. Clse the drs t rms affected by fire and smke. Make sure that all persns have been evacuated. Always make sure yu have an escape path free frm flames and smke available. If smke is present, cruch dwn as yu walk and prtect yur nse and muth. D nt use water n electrical equipment.

5 Page 5 If there is n specific danger and the fire is small, try t put it ut. Fllw these instructins: If pssible and if there is n risk invlved, shut ff the pwer t the equipment that is n fire. Use the clsest prtable extinguisher. Operate the extinguisher with ne hand while hlding the utlet firmly in the ther. Direct the spray tward the bttm f the flames, and then mve t a well-ventilated area. Remember that gas extinguishers use up the xygen in the rm. Be sure t pint the spray tward the bttm f the fire and nt tward the flames. Make sure the fire is cmpletely ut, since it can be reignited by smldering ashes. 2.c Useful emergency numbers If a serius situatin has ccurred and it is impssible t get in tuch with the cntact persns at the Fndazine: Call the fllwing numbers (dial # first): - Fire Department Tel Public Emergency Service Tel Health Emergency Center Tel Carabinieri Natinal Plice Tel. 112 Specify the branch f the FBK where the situatin has ccurred: Dwntwn Trent branch, Via S. Crce 77 Pv branch, Via Smmarive 18 Pv branch, Via alla Cascata 56/c Villazzan branch, Villa Tambsi and give a detailed enugh descriptin f the situatin. Fllw the instructins given by emergency persnnel.

DUTIES OF THE DOORMAN SERVICE PERSONNEL The drman n duty: - when alerted abut a serius danger situatin - when the emergency alarm sunds due t fire r ther dangerus situatin - when persns r prperty may be endangered must fllw these instructins: cllect enugh infrmatin t decide what actin shuld be taken; sund the emergency alarm (if it has nt yet been sunded) t evacuate the building; ntify the members f the emergency team whse names are listed in the last chapter in this plan; ntify the Persn in Charge f the Safety, Prtectin and Preventin Service ( Pv branch, tel. 307 mbile phne ); ntify the Directr f the department invlved; ntify the Directr f the Technical Department. In case f fire r ther dangerus situatin, immediately call: - the Fire Department Tel. 115 (dial # first) - the Public Emergency Services Tel. 113 and 118 (dial # first) mentining: - the Fndazine Brun Kessler - the address f the branch where the situatin is ccurring - the situatin as it was described t r detected by him stay at his/her pst fr any further actins.

After cnsulting with the Persn in Charge f the Fundatin (if present), the team leader r his substitute will crdinate the Emergency Respnse Team until public emergency persnnel arrive. The gals f the Team include: - Lcalizing the cause f the alarm; - Helping evacuate peple frm inside areas; - Helping the handicapped; - Prviding first aid t the injured; - Extinguishing the fire (if minr) with suitable equipment; - Shutting dwn/neutralizing the varius systems in the building (utilities, elevatrs r lifts if empty, research equipment, air cnditiners, etc.) and all surces f risk (strage tanks, pressurized tanks, chemicals, etc.); - Shutting ff pwer t the areas affected by fire (unless shutff creates situatins that are even mre dangerus); - Clsing the valves n fuel tanks lcated near areas f risk; - Mving any inflammable r dangerus substances ut f the areas affected by fire; - Clsing the drs t rms affected by smke (prvided everyne has been evacuated); keeping the areas where emergency persnnel are wrking free and clear frm unauthrized persns; - Making sure that evacuated persns stay calm and directing them t a safe area;

8 Page 8 - Fllwing the specific safety plans drawn up fr individual labratries; - Using suitable persnal prtectin equipment when dealing with the emergency; - Cleaning up areas affected by the fire r ther hazardus situatin befre entering them (unless cleanup is dangerus); Allwing members f the Txic Gas Unit t be the first t intervene in areas cntaminated by txic gasses (Clean Rms). 5.
