Staff shuld ensure that all exits are clear f equipment, furniture etc at all times. All visitrs t the schl must sign the visitrs register as they arrive and leave the premises. They can then be accunted fr at the assembly pint in the event f a fire. A recrd f all fire practices must be kept in the main ffice. Drills are held nce per term, at least and are assessed as t their effectiveness by the Head Teacher. Gvernrs als review the prcedure as part f Health and Safety and Safeguarding mnitring. Hirers f the Gartn Hall will be appraised f prcedure t evacuate the building and call 999 in the event f a fire. This plicy must be read in line with the schl's Health & Safety Plicy. IF YOU DISCOVER A FIRE: Raise the alarm at nce. In the Main Building Fire alarms can be fund at: 1. Receptin Class - n right hand side f left uter dr 2. Receptin Class - n right hand side f right uter dr 3. Left hand side f external dr ppsite Library 4. Left hand side f external kitchen dr 5. Mbile - left hand side f external dr 6. Mbile - left hand side f external classrm fire escape 7. Mbile - left hand side f HT's ffice fire dr In the Gartn Hall alarms can be fund at: 1. Right hand side f main external dr 2. Staff shuld mdel calm, efficient behaviur. In the event f a serius fire, the Head Teacher r Schl Administratr will be respnsible fr calling the fire brigade n the telephne. In the event f an alarm failure, the member f staff discvering the surce f the fire will raise the alarm by hitting the nearest alarm pint and shuting 'Fire, fire', in rder fr the building t be evacuated. The Head Teacher, r Schl Administratr will telephne 999. The Head Teacher will als: Take verall cntrl f the situatin Ensure relevant actin has been taken Accunt fr all persns n the premises Liaise with the Fire Services Assist with the care and cntrl f all persns evacuated frm the premises (In the event f the Head Teacher's absence ther members f staff respnsible fr their duties will take n this respnsibility.) In the event f an alarm failure, details f hw t call the fire service are displayed by the main ffice and by the telephne utside the kitchen. There are als details by the telephne in the Gartn Hall inside the left hand entrance dr. It is the respnsibility f all staff t ensure that exit drs are clsed behind them. It is the respnsibility f Teaching Staff in Y6 t check the tilets and library n way ut f building. It is the respnsibility f all teachers t take a register r class list with them as they exit the building. Cmplete an accurate headcunt in the first instance befre call ut names frm the register. NO ONE MAY RE-ENTER THE BUILDING UNTIL REQUESTED BY THE HEAD TEACHER (PRACTICES ONLY) OR THE FIRE OFFICER (IN THE EVENT OF A REAL FIRE) 2 P a g e

They prceed t the assembly pint near the main apparatus. Line up and check attendance. (There are tw drs in this classrm, either ne can be used as directed by Class Teacher). Shuld either f these exits be blcked by fire, prceed thrugh Y1 Classrm and ut thrugh main dr. Shuld Y1 Class be blcked, exit Receptin Class alng crridr t twards the kitchen and turn left thrugh Y2/3 Class. Prceed twards the library exit and nt the playgrund t the assembly pint. Line up and check attendance. Shuld the entry t Y2/3 Class be blcked, exit using the uter kitchen dr nt Schl Lane and enter back thrugh the schl gate and line up at assembly pint near the apparatus. Year 1: Exit thrugh the classrm drs ppsite the library and thrugh the external dr nt the playgrund. The assembly pint is n the playgrund near the main apparatus, Line up and check attendance. If this dr is blcked by fire, they then exit thrugh Receptin Class, prceed nt the playgrund and line up at the assembly pint near the main apparatus. Check attendance. Year 2/3: Exit thrugh the dr next t Y6 Class and prceed ut f the main external dr nt the playgrund twards the assembly pint near the main apparatus. Line up and check attendance. If this exit is blcked by fire, leave the building thrugh the Receptin Class and prceed nt the playgrund and assembly pint. Line up and check attendance. If Receptin Class is blcked by fire, exit thrugh Year 1 Classrm dr and prceed thrugh the classrm twards the main exit next t library nt the assembly pint n the playgrund. Line up and check attendance. Year 6: Exit thrugh Classrm dr and exit straight ahead thrugh main dr next t the Library. Prceed nt the playgrund t the assembly pint near the main apparatus. Line up and check attendance. If the Library exit is blcked by fire, prceed thrugh Y2/3 classrm int Y1 Class and thrugh t Receptin. Exit thrugh nearest dr and prceed nt the playgrund. There may be fire engines, cars etc utside which pse a risk t safety. It is als ff premises and adults might nt be in pssessin f a security key t get the children t the assembly pint. MOBILE: Year 4/5: Leave the classrm by the main dr and exit the mbile. Prceed t the assembly pint by the main apparatus. Line up and check attendance. If this exit is blcked by fire, exit thrugh the emergency push bar exit at rear f classrm. Prceed arund the mbile twards the assembly pint. Line up and check attendance. Office: Office staff, r staff wrking with children utside the ffice, shuld leave by the main exit f the mbile and prceed twards the assembly pint n the playgrund. Children r adults situated in ther areas f the schl shuld keep calm and exit the building via the designated fire exits if it is safe t d s, r by the quickest rute ut f the building. They shuld then assemble in the playgrund at the assembly pint n the playgrund as apprpriate. Children r staff with a disability will have a named persn t ensure they leave the building. PROCEDURE FOR GARTON HALL: In the case f whle schl assembly, there must be a minimum f 6 staff n premises. In the case f class activities e.g. P.E. the class teacher is able t direct the children. 2 members f staff must be present when Receptin children are using the hall. If the fire alarm sunds during assembly, children shuld stand quickly and stand in silence and be led t the apprpriate exit, see bullet pints. 1 member f staff immediately exits the building and prepares t crss children ver the rad One member f staff leads Receptin Class, Y1, Y2 & Y3 EXIT THROUGH THE MAIN EXIT. This member f staff leads the children dwn Schl Lane,nt the schl playgrund t the assembly pint. A secnd member f staff stands by this exit and perfrms a headcunt as they leave and fllws nce their designated grup have left the building, t ensure all remain tgether etc. Clse gate after leaving A 6th member f staff (the adult in charge f assembly/wrship) perfrms a check f tilets etc befre exiting thrugh main entrance nce building is empty. When the fire alarm sunds during class activities, e.g. P.E. r fd technlgy, children are led by the Class Teacher thrugh the main exit and dwn Schl Lane t the assembly pint n the playgrund. A head cunt must be cmpleted befre leaving the building t ensure all are present. A register shuld be taken nce children are lined up at the assembly pint. Staff shuld mdel calm, efficient behaviur. Children r staff with a disability will have a named persn t ensure they leave the building. IN THE EVENT OF A FIRE, LEAVE THE BUILDING IMMEDIATELY. THE ALARM IS DIRECTLY LINKED TO THE FIRE SERVICE WHO WILL ATTEND THE SCENE. NO TELEPHONE CALL IS NECESSARY.
