The infrmatin given in this bklet will enable yu t btain the best perfrmance frm yur biler. aquaplus prvides bth central heating and dmestic ht water, with the dmestic ht water supplied directly frm the biler. The biler will perate autmatically t prvide dmestic ht water whenever a ht water tap is pened, and autmatically adjusts t meet the demand fr bth central heating and dmestic ht water in the mst ecnmical way. f, after reading these instructins, yu have any questins n the peratin f the biler, please cntact either yur installer r Vaillant Technical Department..2 Liability We can accept n liability whatsever fr damage r injury resulting frm failure t bserve these instructins..3 Specified use Vaillant aquaplus bilers are made t fulfil the latest technical specificatins and fficial safety regulatins. These appliances are designed as bilers fr use in central heating and ht water supply systems. f the appliances are used fr purpses ther than r in excess f these specificatins, this shall be classed as incrrect peratin, and neither the manufacturer nr supplier will accept any liability fr resulting damage r injury. Use f this type is entirely at the wner s risk. The term "specified use" als cvers bservance f the perating and installatin instructins, alng with adherence t the servicing schedules. The benchmark gas biler cmmissining checklist (in the installatin manual) shuld be cmpleted by the installer and/r the cmmissining engineer. All ORG Registered nstallers carry a ORG D card, and have a registratin number. Bth shuld be recrded in the Benchmark gas biler cmmissining checklist. Yu can check yur installer by calling ORG direct n E designatin The purpse f E designatin is t certify that the biler cmplies with the requirements f the directives cvering gasfired appliances (uncil directive 9/396/EE) and electrmagnetic cmpatibility (uncil directive 89/336/EE). Setup and adjustments nstallatin and adjustment f the biler as well as service maintenance and repair f the biler may nly be carried ut by a cmpetent persn in accrdance with the Gas Safety (nstallatin and Use) Regulatins 998. (n the U.K. "ORG" Registered installers undertake the wrk t a safe and satisfactry standard). f the biler is installed in a cmpartment d nt bstruct any purpse prvided ventilatin penings, and d nt use the cmpartment fr strage purpses Gas smell f yu smell gas r suspect a gas leak: Turn ff the biler D nt switch the light r any electrical switches in the hazardus area n r ff, d nt use the telephne in the hazardus area, avid sparking, such as lighting the lighter r matches D nt smke in the hazardus area Turn ff the gas supply at the gas meter Ventilate the rm Warn the ther ccupants and leave the huse nsult yur gas supplier, service agent r ther cmpetent persn. The device may nly be used fr initial peratin fr testing fr cntinuus peratin with the chamber cver clsed and with the flue system fully munted and sealed. 2.2 General precautins 2.2. rrsin prtectin DO NOT use aersl sprays, slvents, chlrine-based cleaning prducts, paints, adhesives, etc. in the vicinity f the unit. We recmmend that yu sign a service agreement with yur service agent r Vaillant Ltd. mprtant! 5 Operatin 3 3 Operatin 3. Overwiev 3.. Operating cntrls Fr access t the cntrls pull the side edges f the lwer frnt panel and drp it dwn. When the main ON/OFF cntrl is in the "ON" psitin the display will nrmally shw the temperature f water in the biler circuit (5 in the example), which cnfirms that the biler is functining crrectly. 6 3 Operatin 3.2 nitial checks befre turning ON 3.2. Open the service valves Ensure the cld water service valve is pen. This can be checked by pening a ht water tap and ensuring water flws. Ensure that the service valves in the heating flw and return (2 and ) and the gas service valve (3) are pen. Nte! The flw, return and gas service valves are pen when the line marking has the same directin as the pipe. VR-V The pressure relief valves (4) are prvided fr safety reasns and must nt be interfered with. Fig. 3.4: hecking the water level Nte! A bttm cver is fitted t the appliance. The service valves can be seen thrugh the cver Fig. 3.3: Opening service valves heck the water cntents heck the water cntents f the system n the pressure gauge (). The needle n the pressure gauge () shuld be within the green band (between and.5 bar). f the needle displays a value belw.75 bar when the appliance is cld, fllw the instructins left by yur installer t refill the system. Alternatively, yur installer shuld be called t refill the system. 3.3 Dmestic ht water peratin The biler shuld nly be used when the heating system cntains water. Use f the biler withut water may cause damage t the biler r its cmpnents. Setting the maximum dmestic ht water temperature cntrl Turn the main switch (2, Fig. 3.5) t the "l" psitin. The dmestic ht water temperature can be adjusted using the ht water temperature cntrl (3, Fig. 3.5). Turn the cntrl clckwise t increase the temperature and anti-clckwise t decrease the temperature. As a guide fr nrmal circumstances set the knb t the ne clck psitin. Nte! This cntrl adjusts the maximum dmestic ht water temperature. f adjusting the cntrl upwards appears t have n effect n the temperature, then the biler is already perating at full utput fr the selected flw rate. f yu live in a hard water area please d nt set the cntrl knb abve the mid (2 'clck) psitin t prevent excessive scale frmatin (fig. 3.5). 6 nstructins fr use VU 362-7

When the warmstart system is switched ON the biler will autmatically light peridically t maintain the internal temperature f the biler. When the warmstart system is switched OFF a shrt delay may be experienced in btaining ht water at the tap. The warmstart system is activated by turning the ht water temperature cntrl knb () all the way t the very right fr a shrt time. Reset the ht water temperature cntrl knb t the desired setting. The symbl "" (cmfrt) appears in the display and shws that the Warmstart system is activated. The biler will nw prvide instantaneus delivery f ht water directly when a ht water tap is turned n. The Warmstart system is switched ff by mmentarily turning the knb () t the left, as far as the stp. The "" symbl n lnger appears in the display. Reset the ht water temperature cntrl knb t the desired setting. Nte! rrespective f whether the warmstart facility is switched n r ff, the biler will autmatically perate t prvide ht water whenever a ht water tap is pened. Fig. 3.6: Switching the warm start n and ff Obtaining ht water When yu pen a ht water tap () at a draw-ff pint (wash basin, shwer, bath etc.), the appliance supplies yu with the ht water yu require. When a certain vlume f water has been drawn ff, the appliance is brught int peratin autmatically and the integrated ht water strage vessel is re-filled (in sme circumstances, the appliance may perate nly after the water has been drawn ff). The appliance is equipped with an autmatic prtectin functin against leginella: f the temperature in the ht water strage vessel falls belw 5, then the vessel will be heated t 65 nce in a 24 hr perid. n this way, the water in the strage vessel is thermally disinfected. Please nte that after cmpletin f the thermal disinfectin prcess there is a pssible risk f scalding when drawing ff ht water. Fig. 3.7: Drawing ff ht water nstructins fr use VU

8 3 Operatin 3.4 Heating peratin 3.4. Setting the maximum radiatr temperature cntrl Turn the main switch () t the "l" psitin. Set the maximum radiatr temperature cntrl t the desired setting using the cntrl knb (2). We recmmend the fllwing settings: - Left setting during spring and autumn (turning the cntrl knb all the way t the very left switches OFF heating), - Middle setting during mild winter, - Right setting during cld winter. 2 VR-V Setting the external cntrls Set the rm thermstat (3, accessry) and/r the thermstatic radiatr valves (4, accessry) accrding t the instructins supplied with the cntrl(s). Nte! Vaillant ffer rm thermstat/ time cntrl accessries which give accurate and ecnmic rm temperature cntrl as well as imprved cmfrt. Ask yur installer! The biler will nw perate autmatically t prvide central heating fr the cnditins selected n the external cntrls and als prvide dmestic ht water n demand). Whilst the biler is perating, the biler display (7, fig. 3.2) indicates the temperature f the water within the biler circuit. After the biler stps perating the pump and fan will cntinue t perate fr a shrt perid t fully disperse the heat frm the biler. Nte! The biler incrprates an anti-cycling ecnmiser cntrl t prevent energy wasteful ON and OFF peratin f the biler fr shrt perids when in the central heating mde. When turning the rm thermstat t a higher setting there may therefre be a shrt delay befre the biler perates. 9 Operatin Status display (Fr maintenance and service wrk perfrmed by yur installer r service agent) The status displays are activated by pressing the "i" buttn (). The current status cde, e.g. "S.34" fr the frst prtectin mde, is shwn n the display (2). Pressing the "i" buttn again will switch yu back t the nrmal mde. The "+" and "-" buttns will nly be used by yur installer r service agent during service and maintenance wrk Resetting the appliance When a ht water tap r the central heating system requires heat, the biler autmatically ignites and starts t perate. f the autmatic ignitin is nt successful within secnds, then the biler des nt g int peratin and switches t "Lck ut". This is indicated visually by the crssed ut flame in the display and the displaying f fault cde "F.28" r "F.29" (flame extinguished during peratin). A new attempt t ignite the flame can then nly be perfrmed after pressing the "Reset" buttn. Press the "Reset" buttn (2) and hld fr apprx. secnd. f the biler still shuts ff after a third attempt, then please cnsult yur installer r Vaillant Service Slutins. VR-V The biler als switches t "Fault" when there is nt enugh water in the system. This fault is indicated by fault cdes "F 22", "F.23" r "F.24". The biler must nly be placed back in peratin after the heating system has been prperly refilled with water. n the unlikely event f any ther fault develping, which prevents the biler frm perating, the display will als shw ther fault cdes. f a fault cde is displayed please cntact yur installer r Vaillant Service Slutins. T turn OFF the central heating nly (Summer smde) Turn the maximum radiatr temperature cntrl knb used t cntrl the heating supply temperature () all the way t the left. Nte! Yu can switch ff the heating peratin in summer, fr example, but the biler will cntinue t prvide dmestic ht water whenever a ht water tap is pened. VR-V Fig. 3.2: Reset 3.6. Faults in the ht water system T prtect the strage vessel feed pump, the appliance is equipped with dry-running prtectin. This prevents peratin f the feed pump if an insufficient quantity f water is available in the appliance. f dry-running prtectin is activated, reset the appliance as fllws: Press the "lear fault" buttn (see 2, illustratin 3.2) and hld it dwn fr apprx. sec. r, alternatively, switch the appliance main switch "OFF" and "ON" again. 11 Operatin T turn OFF central heating and ht water fr shrt perids f time Turn the main ON/OFF cntrl (2) t the "" psitin. Nte! f yu want t turn the aquaplus biler OFF fr a lnger perid f time (e.g. hlidays), and there is n danger f frst, then yu shuld als turn ff the gas supply, the cld water service valve and the electrical supply. Please nte the frst prtectin hints in this regard. f the biler is nt perated fr several hurs during very cld weather there is therefre the pssibility f the system freezing. Please ensure that if yu are absent during a perid f frst the central heating remains in peratin and all rms are kept abve freezing pint. t must be remembered, hwever, that the biler will be autmatically switched ff by the built in mnitring devices if certain faults ccur, e.g. interruptin in the gas r electricity supply r faults in the flue gas system. T vercme this pssibility yu can drain bth the central heating system and biler. Frst prtectin and mnitring devices can nly functin when the main switch f the unit is set t the "" psitin and the biler is cnnected t the electrical supply Trubleshting n the unlikely event that a prblem ccurs with the peratin f the aquaplus biler, the fllwing pints shuld be checked: Fig. 3.4: Shutting dwn the unit cmpletely 3.8 are and maintenance lean the uter casing f yur biler with a damp clth and a little sap. D nt use abrasive r slvent cleaning agents that may damage the case r the plastic fittings. The appliance shuld be serviced at least nce per year.
