Use the freezer nly as instructed in this Owner's Guide Befre starting the freezer, fllw these imprtant first steps, INSTALLATION Chse a place that is near a grunded electrical utlet D Nt use an extensin crd r an adapter plug Fr the mst efficient peratin, the freezer shuld be lcated where surrunding temperatures will nt exceed 110 F (43 C). Temperatures f 32 F (0 C) and belw will NOT affect freezer peratin. Additinal cmpressr heaters are nt recmmended Allw space arund the unit fr gd air circulatin Leave a 3 inch (75 mm) space n al] sides f the freezer fr adequate circulatin. 3" (75 ram) T Level Chest Mdels: /f needed, add metal r wd shims between ft pads and flr CLEANING 3_(75mm) Installatin NOTE: The exterir walls f the freezer may becme quite warm as the cmpressr wrks t transfer heat frm the inside. Temperatures as much as 30 F warmer than rm temperature can be expected. Fr this reasn it is particularly imprtant in htter climates t allw enugh space fr air circulatin arund yur freezer LEVELING The freezer must have ali bttm crners resting firmly n a slid flr The flr must be strng enugil t supprt a fully laded freezer NOTE: It is VERY IMPORTANT fr yur freezer t be level in rder t functin prperly. If the freezer is nt leveled during installatin, the dr' may be misaligned and nt clse r seal prperly, causing cling, frst, r misture prblems Wash any remvable parts, the freezer interir, and exterir with mild detergent and warm water Wipe dry DO NOT USE HARSH CLEANERS ON THESE SURFACES, D nt use razr blades r ther sharp instruments, which can scratch the appfiance surface when remving adhesive labels Any glue left frm the tape can be remved with a mixture f warm water and mild detergent, r tuch the residue with the sticky side f tape already remved, DO NOT REMOVETHE SERIAL PLATE. _T allw dr t clse and seal prperly, DO NOT let fd packages extend past the frnt f shelves T Level Upright Mdels: After discarding crating screws and wd base, use a carpenter's level t level the freezer frm frnt-t-back Adjust the plastic leveling feet in frnt,!/2bubble higher, s that the dr clses easily when left halfway pen Shelf Frnt

6 DOOR REMOVAL (UPRIGHT MODELS) If dr must be remved t fit thrugh narrw drways, 1 Gently lay freezer n its back, n a thrw rug r blankel 2, Remve the base panel by unscrewing tw screws frm frnt f base panel. Remve wire frm clips n bttm f cabinet (Figure I) 3 Unplug cnnectr by hlding the cabinet cnnectr in piace, and pulling dr cnnectr ut (Figure 1) 4 At the tp f the cabinet, tift up plastic hinge cver, and fld back (Figure 2) 5 Use a Phillips@ screwdriver t lsen and retighten the screws n the tp hinge t insure a secure assembly, and prevent hinge slippage, 6 Remve the tp hinge frm cabinet, and lift dr ff lwer hinge pin 7 After dr is remved, remve the tw screws frm the bttm hinge 8 T replace dr, reverse abve rder. POWER ON LIGHT The yellw Pwer On indicatr light indicates that the freezer is prperly cnnected t electrical pwer The light glws even when the temperature cntrl is turned t OFF If the light ges ut, refer t Freezer Des Nt Run Sectin in the Trubleshting Guide ff the freezer appears t be perating, the light element may be burned ut. Call an authrized servicer fr replacement. TEMP ALARM (SOME MODELS) This feature is designed t prvide a warning if the inside temperatures reach an unsafe level The Temp. Alarm Feature perates n husehld electricity It wilt nt functin if husehld electricity is interrupted. When the freezer is initially plugged in, the red Temp Alarm Indicatr Light blinks. The indicatr light will cntinue t blink until the freezer has reached a safe freezing temperature. If a malfunctin causes an unsafe temperature inside the freezer, the red light will blink and the buzzer will sund. T silence the buzzer, press the ALARM OFF buttn.. On chest mdels with a defrst drain, place a shallw pan r the Divider/Drain Pan (sme mdels) beneath the drain utfet (Figure 2)A Y2inch garden hse adapter can be used t drain the freezer directly int a flr drain (Figure 3), Pull ut the drain plug inside the freezer, and pull ff the utside defrst drain plug (Figure 4) Sme upright freezers are frst-free and defrst autmatically, but shuid be cleaned ccasinally BETWEEN DEFROSTINGS T avid frequent defrsting, ccasinally use a plastic scraper t remve frst Scrape with a pulling mtin Never use a metal instrument t remve frst DEFROSTING tt is imprtant t defrst and ciean the freezer when _At V2 inch f frst has accumulated Frst may tend t accumulate faster n the upper part f the freezer due t warm, mist air entering the freezer when the dr is pened.. Remve fd and leave the dr pen when defrsting the freezer. On upright mdels with a defrst drain (Figure 1), remve the drain plug n the inside flr f the freezer by pulling straight ut. T access the external drain tube n mdels with a base panel, first remve the tw screws frm the base panel Lcate the drain tube near the left center under the freezer Place a shallw pan under the drain tube. Defrst water will drain ut Check pan ccasinally s water des nt verflw. A _,_inch garden hse adapter can be used t drain the freezer directly int a flr drain.if yur mdel is nt equipped with an adapter, ne can be purchased at mst hardware stres Replace the drain plug when defrsting and cleaning are cmpleted If the drain is left pen, warm air may enter the freezer. Remve twels and/r newspapers If the frst is sft, remve it by using a plastic scraper If the frst is glazed and hard, fill deep pans with ht water and place them n the freezer bttm Clse the freezer dr Frst shuld sften in abut 15 minutes.
