Light articles such as blankets r pillws may be put int furniture drawers. BEDS: The mvers will dismantle yur beds and set them up in yur new residence. BOOKS: Bks shuld be packed in small, strng, securely tied cartns. They shuld be placed cver t cver, alternating bindings t prevent the pages frm becming interlcked and damaged. Wrap valuable bks individually. d nt pack bks in furniture drawers r leave them in prtable bkshelves r bkcases. BRIC-A-BRAC: Wrap separately and pack in cartns, bxes r barrels. cushin well with newsprint. Pack largest and heaviest items in bttm f cntainer. d nt pack ver edge f cntainer. CANNED GOODS: Pack upright in small, sturdy cartns. d nt pack beynd the limit f prtability, nt ver 50 punds t each cntainer. apprximately 24 cans shuld be ample. CHINA: Wrap china and all fragile bjects in paper individually. Large plates and heavy pieces shuld be placed n the bttm f the cntainer, n edge, smaller plates, cups and saucers tward the tp f the cntainer. Plates and dishes shuld be placed in a vertical psitin with pads f paper in between. recmmended - 3 f paper n the bttm f the barrel r cartn and 2 f paper in between layers. d nt pack abve edge f cntainer. CLOTHING: Fr a nminal charge, ur men will mve yur clthing n hangers, frm the clsets directly t wardrbes furnished by us. Wardrbes will hld apprximately 25 hangers depending upn the size f garments. yur clthing will reach yu clean and wrinkle-free. Fr strage, clthing shuld be cleaned. small clthing articles pack nicely in suitcases, bxes r trunks. CLOCKS: Pendulums n clcks shuld be remved r secured tightly t the base f the clck. small clcks may be wrapped and placed in bxes. CURTAINS: Befre mving day, remve curtains frm the rds and fld them neatly in drawers r clean, white tissue-lined cartns. DRAPERIES: These may be placed n hangers and transferred t wardrbe cartns, r they may be flded and placed in cartns. T save handling, they can be sent t the cleaners and delivered directly t yur new hme. DRAWERS IN FURNITURE: articles such as blankets, cushins, pillws and clthing may be left in drawers. d nt pack heavy items in dresser, bureau, server r buffet drawers. never leave liquids, breakables, r firearms in drawers (Fr cnsumer s prtectin, we recmmend emptying all drawers.) DRYERS, ELECTRIC OR GAS: check with yur service man. mtrs may need t be checked and secured. We can arrange this service fr yu r recmmend a reliable service cmpany. FOOD: dispse f fd in pen cntainers that might spill r spil enrute. The carrier will nt be liable fr damage caused by fd spilling n ther items. Perishable fd shuld never be stred r shipped. FREEZERS: These appliances must be cmpletely defrsted ne r tw days prir t mving. GRANDFATHER CLOCKS: remve chimes. secure weight chains tightly against the base f the clck with wire r strng string and remve weights and pendulums. KITCHEN UTENSILS: Kitchen utensils shuld be clean and placed in cartns r barrels. durable, heavy pieces placed n the bttm, light nes n the tp with each piece padded against dents, chipping r scratching. Tasters, irns, waffle irns, mixers, etc., may be wrapped individually and placed in cartns with ther kitchen utensils. LAMPS: remve rnamental tps and put in a safe place... ne yu will remember. small lamps may be wrapped and placed in cartns fr safe mving. 5

They may be nested but d nt pack them s as t tear lining r puncture parchment shades. LINENS: Table and bed linens shuld be put int strng cartns r trunks. They shuld be lined with tissue r clean white r brwn paper t prtect frm dust. d nt use newsprint as a liner as the ink may sil the fabric LINOLEUM: The mving cmpany is nt respnsible fr the safe mving f linleum which has been used r tacked t the flr; r which cracks and breaks when rlled. MATTRESSES: ur mving men will prtect yur mattress with a bag r cartn fr a slight charge. d nt try t rll r handle as this may result in damaged springs r fabrics. yu may prtect them with a sheet r mattress cver if yu like. MEDICINES: seal bttles and jar stppers. Wrap individually, placing them upright in small cartns r metal waste cntainers. MIRRORS: Fr strage r lng distance mving, they must be crated fr safe handling. Wall mirrrs will be remved by the mvers, if they are nt fastened t the walls. mirrrs will nt be installed n walls at the new residence, mirrr tps n furniture will be taken ff and replaced at destinatin. MOWERS AND GASOLINE POWERED TOOLS: Gas tanks shuld be drained and il reservirs emptied. n flammable mixtures r articles may be transprted n public carriers. PAINTINGS - PICTURES: small pictures can be safely placed between the flds f blankets r pillws in drawers r cartns. Large and valuable pictures and paintings must be padded, wrapped and crated fr mving. REFRIGERATORS: defrst and thrughly dry yur refrigeratr befre mving. this is very imprtant. The drs shuld be left pen several hurs t air after defrsting. all pans, trays, crispers, shelves r remvable parts shuld be remved and wrapped separately. Have yur refrigeratr serviced. mtr may have t be blted dwn befre mving. d nt plug in at the new hme until it has been unblted. RUGS: It is nt necessary t remve rugs frm flrs. ur men will d this fr yu. They will be rlled t avid crushing. If they are t be stred, have them cleaned. Tacks shuld be remved frm carpeting befre ur mvers arrive. SEWING MACHINES: These d nt need special servicing fr lcal mving. Fr lng distance, the driver will stuff paper in and arund the machine and place paper between the lid and base t prevent rubbing. SILVERWARE: Leave in riginal cntainers r wrap in clth r lw sulphur-cntent paper, r tissue and pack in bxes. Place padding in silver chests t prevent mving and scratching.
