8 Retrfit t existing drs: Make sure the dr is in gd perating cnditin, free swinging and hangs true prir t installatin. Make any adjustments t the dr befre installing the lck. Sme extra shims are included with additinal shims available fr purchase. The Installer might need material t patch hles frm any remved lcks r hardware New Cnstructin: Templating is available fr strike preparatin and fr lcatins f mrtar bxes fr the frame. Header Depth The tp blt shts apprx ne inch int the header. The header shuld be at least 1 ½ wide t accmmdate the 5/8 diameter vertical deadblt. Sme adjustment can be made with the blt shims. Saddle Depth The bttm blt prjects apprximately ne inch int the dust prf strike (less the gap abve the saddle). The saddle shuld verhang past the drs interir by 1 ½. This will allw rm fr the dustprf strike t be installed. (Drill as deep f a hle as yu can in the flr t allw fr debris that may accumulate in the hle. Clear the hle f debris after installatin. Weather-stripping may have t be adjusted r trimmed t allw fr the lwer thru-blt bracket Electrical infrmatin: Battery Pwered mdels The cmbinatin battery alarm mdule and key-switch is attached t the panic device by a surface munted armred cable. Clips are prvided t attach the cable t the dr. The cable lps nt the frame and attaches t the alarm bx. The alarm bx is t be munted n the wall near the hinge side f the dr with screws r anchrs. N ther cnnectins are needed. Direct pwer single dr alarm mdels 110vAC pwer needs t be brught t the Alarm Cntrller/Pwer Supply. The suggested lcatin is apprximately ne ft abve the dr n the hinge side. The Key-switch bx is surface munted n the hinge side f the dr at a cmfrtable height. Armred cable is prvided t cnnect the Key-switch t the pwer supply. Direct pwer multi-dr alarm mdels Pwer is brught t the Central Alarm Cntrller/Pwer Supply lcatin. The Armred Cable frm the Key-switch bx cnnects t the dr mdule (DM1) which is munted in an electrical back bx lcated at each dr. Frm there, three (3) lw vltage wires are run t the Central Alarm Cntrller/Pwer Supply using cnduit supplied by the cntractr. This Central Alarm Cntrller/Pwer Supply lcatin must be prtected frm the rain, snw and ther misture. The lcatin is usually indicated in the plans. See installatin instructins fr further infrmatin. Alarm Cntact Lcatin If the dr is be mnitred by an alarm system, we recmmend munting the alarm cntact near the tp crner f the lck edge f the dr. Bringing the alarm cntact clser t the main deadblt will cause the alarm t ring sner during an attempted break-in. If an alarm cntact is t be installed at the tp f the dr, the edge f the cntact must be a minimum f 9 frm the edge f the dr t avid interference with the tp blt. Whenever pssible crdinate this with the alarm cmpany. 8

9 alarm cntact clearance 7" 7" AG2,AG3,AG4 Direct Pwer Alarm (abve) & Key Switch Bx (belw) r MP4900 mdels are designed fr install atin withut any factry preparatin. There are a few things t keep in mind when rdering and fabricating drs and fr ames: Active Pair Single Leaf 9" C L = 6" frm stp 6" alarm cntact clearance 3" A suggested alarm cntact lcatin ~65" MP4900 Series 1) Alarm Cntact Lcatin, when the dr is t be cnnected t an alarm system using an alarm cntact magnet switch (may be by thers): A) Munt the alarm cntact vertically n the lck edge f the dr at apprx. 65" frm the bttm f the dr. We recmmend this lcatin as ppsed t the traditinal tp f the dr hrizntal lcatin. Bringing the alarm cntact clser t the main deadblt (and main prying pint) will cause the alarm t ring sner during an attempted break-in. But fr retrfit installatin, where the cntact may already be munted at the tp f the dr, B) the edge f the cntact must be less than 3" r mre than 9" frm the stp f single drs, r utside f 7" frm the edge f each leaf f a pair f active drs. 2) Header Depth: The header shuld be at least 1-1/2" thick t accmmdate the 5/8" dia. vertical deadblt. Refer t lcal fire and building cdes fr emergency exit hardware requirements. AG1: Battery Operated Alarm (abve) All Securitech alarms are designed fr wall munting, as ppsed t dr munting. In the event f an unauthrized pening, the sund f the alarm remains within the facility. 5) Direct Pwer Single Opening Alarm Mdels (using 49 DPS1): 110vAC will need t be brught t the Alarm/Pwer Supply, typically installed abve the hinge side f the pening. 6) Direct Pwer Multi-Opening Alarm Mdels (using 49 DPS5): 110vAC is brught t the central alarm munting lcatin. 3 lw vltage wires are run t the keyswitch mdule at each pening. 9

11 Electrical Specificatins AG2 & AG3 Hardwired mdels: require 110vAC (tw black wires cming ff the transfrmer) t be installed by a qualified prfessinal. These units include a Gel-cell rechargeable battery fr backup in case f a pwer failure. Battery fr AG2, AG3 Battery Back-up: SLA3-12 AFV 3.4 AH. Test Annually. The backup battery will sund the alarm fr lnger than fur days when fully charged. Battery fr AG1 battery-perated alarm: Standard 9V alkaline battery. Replace annually. Current draw in standby mde is less than 2mA. 11

12 Q: The key des nt unlck the dr (frm the inside). A: The MP Plice Lck 4900 prvides the user with a means f emergency escape by immediately releasing the dr when the paddle is depressed. The key is nt used t retract the blts frm the push r inside f the dr. The key is nly intended t shunt the alarm fr authrized passage. Q: The alarm beeps intermittently A: Sign f lw battery. Check r replace the battery Q: The alarm desn't sund at all A: If the alarm des nt sund when the paddle is pressed, take the fllwing steps: Make sure the key is ut f the alarm switch and try again. If alarm is an n/ff type (OA functin), rtate the key clckwise nce and try again. Remve the screw that hlds the cver in place. Nte if the alarm sunds. If it des, there may be prblem with the installatin wiring. Recheck the installatin instructins. If the switch is a pushbuttn type, press it nce and install the battery with the cver pen and the tamper switch NOT pressed. Check the battery t make sure it is cnnected. Fr battery systems test r replace with a fresh 9V battery. Fr hardwired systems, the LED n the upper left crner f the alarm cntrller cver shuld be lit. If nt lit, the electrical circuit may be turned ff r nt cnnected. Check that the battery is cnnected. Check that the fuse n the circuit bard is nt blwn. Check if the switch that the key cylinder cntacts mves freely and is clear f wires. If the abve steps d nt make the alarm sund, replace alarm mdule. Q: The alarm sunds cntinuusly after a pwer utage r when pwered up during installatin. (Hardwired mdels nly). A: When the pwer is turned n, the entire system ges int an alarm mde. ALL parts f the system must be shunted t reset the system. See Pwer-Up Sheet fr mre infrmatin. If keys are nt available see the questin belw. Q: Alarm sunds cntinuusly fr n apparent reasn (Hardwired mdels nly). A: Check that LED is lit n Alarm Cntrller Bx. If nt lit, the pwer may have been turned ff and the alarm will sund when the backup battery has mstly discharged. 12

13 Q: The alarm sunds cntinuusly when the key is remved frm the alarm mdule cylinder. A: This is usually a sign that the device is reading an alarm cnditin. The key silences & shunts the alarm nly while the key is in the cylinder and rtated clckwise. This is a mmentary switch. Remve the key nly when the dr is lcked and the blts are extended. The alarm is always active when the key is remved. (With OA mdels the key-switch turns the alarm n and ff). If the key can't be turned and remved frm the cylinder withut the alarm sunding, then the fllwing steps shuld be fllwed in sequence: Check that the alarm bx cver is clsed and that the prper screw that hlds it in place is installed. There is a tamper switch that the screw depresses and which can be depressed manually. Check that the exit dr(s) is(are) clsed and the blts are all FULLY extended befre taking the key ut f the alarm. If the exit dr is clsed with the blts extended and the alarm sunds when the key is remved then: If there is a single dr t the utside, test the installatin by mving the dr t 90 degrees making sure the blts are fully extended: Fr Manual lcking systems pull back n the paddle. Fr Self-lcking systems, press the tab at the tp f the upper channel and the blts will extend. IMPORTANT: Make sure the bttm blt des nt tuch the flr. Test the alarm again. If the alarm des NOT sund then: Check that the hle in the flr fr the bttm blt is nt blcked by debris. If s, clear it and retest. Check that the dr is aligned in the frame s that the blts extend fully thrugh all the frame hles. Check the wiring fr damage and make sure that it is installed fllwing the installatin instructins. If yu have a meter, check cntinuity at the wire ends leading frm the panic device cable t see if yu get a change f state when the paddle is depressed. If nt, there may be a shrt in the wires r the switch in the panic device mechanism may be damaged. If there is a change in state and all cnnectins are OK, there may be a damaged r defective alarm bard; cnsult with the factry. Q: The alarm is sunding and the keys are nt available r there is a prblem with the alarm that cannt be slved by fllwing the abve steps. A: Until yu can get the keys r have the alarm serviced: Fr Battery Pwered Alarms (AG1) remve the battery t silence the alarm until the prblem is slved. Alternative: Tape the key-switch r tamper switch as needed. Fr Direct Pwer Alarms (AG2 & 49DPS5) discnnect the backup battery and turn ff the 110vAC pwer. If the 110vAC cannt be turned ff easily, newer mdels have a jumper n the bttm left crner f the main bard. (See Pht.) Remve the jumper t silence the alarm. (Sctch tape the jumper t the bx cver as it will be needed later. On mdels withut the jumper, please call the factry. 13

14 Q: During pwer-up the fuse blws whenever pwer is applied. (Hardwire systems nly). A: Check the wiring fr shrts. Make sure wiring is cnnected accrding t installatin instructins. This can als happen if the wiring was nt cnnected and the system was run n battery backup fr a lng perid f time. The Backup Battery was discharged t far and may be damaged r defective. Replace the Battery. Make sure the pwer is cnnected and turned n (see the LED n the alarm bx cver). Q: Blt des nt stay retracted (Self Lcking Mdels). A: Tp blt is nt hlding back the blts. There is a trigger at the upper channel assembly that hlds back the blts. 1- There shuld be NO grease r lubricatin n the blt and trigger. 2- If this is a new installatin, lift up the bttm half f the aluminum upper channel near the lck bdy t expse the cnnectr. Nte thrugh which slts it is attached and remve the ctter pin. A - If the tp blt des nt prject, adjust the cnnectin by attaching the cnnectr at different lcatins in the sltted part. s that it is nt under t much pressure. B- If the trigger des NOT hld the blt back when retracted, remve the upper rd assembly frm the dr. Lightly slide the end f a large, flat screwdriver between the flat trigger and the tp f the channel as far dwn as pssible. Gently bend the trigger away frm the channel a little at a time until the trigger hlds the blt in place when it is retracted. Reassemble the device and test. 14

15 Pwer up Instructins Battery Pwered Mdels (AG1) 1. Make sure the exit dr is clsed and the blts are extended. 2. Insert the key int key-switch. D nt turn the key. 3. Remve and retain the cver screw. 4. Insert a new battery. The alarm shuld sund. 5. Clse the cver. Turn and hld the key t shunt the alarm. 6. Reinstall the cver screw. 7. Turn and remve the key. The alarm shuld nt sund. 8. The system is ready. Yu may test it by pening the exit dr by pressing the paddle. The alarm shuld sund until the key is inserted int the alarm bx and turned nce. Hardwired Mdels (AG2) 1. Make sure the exit dr is clsed and the blts are extended. 2. Insert the key int key-switch. 3. Rtate the key t the right t shunt the alarm 4. Yu will need t bring 110vAC pwer t the Pwer Supply/Siren unit's transfrmer leads. The LED shuld light t indicate pwer. 5. Insert & cnnect GelCel Battery Back-up. 6. Clse the cver (the tamper switch behind cver must be depressed) and secure with tw screws prvided. 7. Shut and lck the dr by pulling back n the paddle t extend the blts. 8. Remve the key. The alarm shuld be silent but armed. If it sunds, then the blts may nt be FULLY extended. 9. When yu depress the paddle, the alarm shuld sund. 10. Use key t silence and reset the alarm. 15
