There is nw left in the kitty split between in the bx and 6 10 in the accunt held by Andy. The Psters fr Darringtn Garden in Blm cmpetitin was discussed the bill fr them f 20 is still utstanding. Andy talked abut the small reprt in the Pntefract and Castlefrd paper abut the Darringtn Garden in blm cmpetitin and the Tithe Barn area.

2 Andy reprted that he has finally presented the fully engraved Silver cup t Claude Spencer, Wentbridge, Claude prmised t return the cup even thugh he is mving huse t be nearer his daughter. Next Years Open Garden was discussed and will hpefully take n a different style, all vlunteers can pen their garden t all villagers n maybe 2 weekends, at a time cnvenient t the garden wners, a ntice culd be displayed with maybe such wrding as This garden is pen 2 4pm tday / tmrrw The gardens culd be vted fr by the visitrs in the same way as the scarecrw judging is dne. The Scarecrw cmpetitin is t be held 18 th 19 th and 25 th 26 th f June 2016 the Feast and Fayre is t be n the 18 th f June. Full plans will be drawn up and advertising started immediately t give gardeners plenty f time t prepare their garden. The theme fr the scarecrw 2016 will be Famus characters fictin r nn-fictin, past r present. The A1 updating t mtrway standard was discussed as the plans fr this wrk have nw been resurrected mth balls thrwn away With the lay-bys already clsed this has caused a 8 miles nn-stp zne creating prblems fr lng distance lrry drivers, the fear is they will cme int the village fr an vernight stp. Whether this resurrectin f the plans will affect the Glf Club r nt is unknwn, but the Glf club nce privately wn, was bught by the Highways, then resld t Stneacre when the plans fr an extended Mtr way were shelved. The glf club is nw abut t re seed the area they have been wrking n, part re seeded this year part next year. The hill that has been created by the wrk dne by the glf club is still t high and will need sme wrk ding n it t bring it int line with the law gverning this type f wrk. The hanging baskets were discussed the general cnsensus f pinin is that they are much better than last years, but still sme way t g. Disappinted was expressed ver the fact that the flwers in the baskets were nt pen fr the Feast and Fayre. Cmparisns were made with the Hanging baskets in Suth Elmsall, Uptn and Ackwrth, which are much better than urs. It was pinted ut that they wuld cst mre, and thse areas may have mre cash t play with. Darringtn having the lwest precept in the area, therefre less mney was available t spend n the hanging baskets. First Impressins did say that the flwers were late in pening fr varius reasns, and as they have a rlling prgramme and smene has t be last / first in supply. Andy mentined that he had jined the Natinal Trust, and nticed that there are far fewer Natin Trust places rund here, that in ther areas Margaret asked him if he gt free binculars with his enrlment n. Andy als mentined the Histric Huses Assciatin there are mre Histric Huses rund here t visit than Natin Trust places. Grass snakes were discussed Mr Elstn f Darringtn tld Andy that he had 2 resident grass snakes in his garden and had been taking phts f them, he had als had fund their skin which has been shed in his garden. Andy mentined that he has tw trees but he can t remember what they are but ne has died and ne is ding really well, ne is planted in his frnt garden and ne in his back garden, apart frm that they have lked after in the same way. Andy things he has a Lrd Derby apple tree in his garden A discussin tk place n the new trees planted in the Tithe Barn they are grwing slwly but ding well, Mike has prmised t give them a lk ver Jbs fr August. Mrs Cke passed n sme infrmatin that she had read -- Freesia bulbs nly last fr ne year. Garden centres / Nurseries were discussed Spring Green ging dwnhill they are buying in rather than grwing their wn Nancys Nurseries still rank very highly with members f the Garden club.

African daisy there are many different clurs Barbara tld us the sad tale f her birthday present a peach tree which grew well and was cvered in blssm and in time fruit. The fruit was thinned ut by her sn t an amunt that the tree culd cpe with. One day Barbara went t lk at it and there were just 3 peaches left n the tree n sign f the birds having eaten them and n fruit drp it was the squirrels Barbara said she culd murder them.
