6 CULTIVATION RECOMMENDATIONS Swing time: January fr flwering bedding plants frm May nwards. Grwing Begnia bliviensis is generally quite similar t cultivatin f Begnia tuberhybrida. Germinatin Stage 0 Media ph , gd quality swing media with 0.5kg PG-Mix ( ) per m3. Begnia are sensitive t damping-ff disease f seedlings therefre we recmmend applicatin f Trichderma fungi and Previcur (prpamcarb) pesticide as a precautin. Sciarid larvae (Bradysia paupera, Bradysia aprica) present in the medium will dramatically decrease the number f spruted seedlings. In this case we recmmend precautinary applicatin f parasitic nematdes Steinernema feltiae. Germinatin- Stage 1 High humidity clse t 100% and temperature C are the basic cnditins leading t gd results. D nt cver the pellets. The length f this stage lasts 7-10 days until radicle emergence. Visual Nte: At the end f Stage 1, the radicle grws frm the destructed pellet and the rts start t frm. Misture: Misture level 5 (saturated) Humidity: 100%, even shrt drps f humidity can harm the germinating seeds, t maintain high humidity yu can cver the plug with plastic fil. Media EC Lighting: Light is necessary fr germinatin. The light intensity in the chamber needs t be 200-1,000 lux ( ft candles). Germinatin-Stage 2 In this stage it is necessary t ensure ptimum cnditins fr grwth f the rt system. This especially means high humidity. Visual Nte: The seeds are cmpletely spruted by the end f stage 2. The radicle is develped, the stem is present and ctyledns have expanded.
