4 3 Buttons For the user 3 Buttons Ative opertion mode Setpoint temperture The ontroller is equipped with power sving funtion tht uses the sreen to go lnk fter period of intivity. To mke the sreen light up gin, press one of the uttons. 5 Sttus ions d - + d ON/OFF When OFF, press to turn ON the system. As result, the sttus inditor (e) will turn ON too. When ON, press to turn OFF the system. As result, the sttus inditor (e) will turn OFF too. ENTER/ACTIVATE /SET From the home sreen, enter the min menu. From the min menu, enter one of the sumenus. From their respetive sumenu, tivte n opertion/ ventiltion mode. In one of the sumenus, onfirm setting. CYCLE/ADJUST Cyle left. Adjust setting (defult: derese). CYCLE/ADJUST Cyle right. In most ses, the stndrd home sreen gives you only the tive opertion mode, messges (if ny), nd the setpoint temperture (in se of Cooling, Heting, or Auto opertion mode). Most ions re relted to things set in the Dikin Control Assistnt pp. For more informtion, see the pp. 6 Opertion From the home sreen, press to enter the min menu. Use nd to yle through the menus. Press gin to enter one of the menus. Depending on the type of indoor unit you re operting, more or less menus my e ville. In the min menu, the ion for eh menu reflets the urrent tive setting or mode. When operting the ontroller, the menu you nvigte through n look different from tht represented in this mnul. The ontroller only llows for si opertion of the system. For dvned opertion (setk, shedule timer, ), see the Dikin Control Assistnt pp. 6.1 Setpoint The setpoint is the trget temperture for the Cooling, Heting, nd Auto opertion modes To set the setpoint Prerequisite: The tive opertion mode is either 'Cooling', 'Heting', or 'Auto'. 1 In the home sreen, use nd to djust the setpoint. Result: The indoor unit hnges its temperture setpoint. 6.2 Opertion mode The indoor unit n operte in vrious opertion modes. Ion Opertion mode Cooling. In this mode, ooling will e tivted s required y the setpoint. Dry. In this mode, the ir humidity will e lowered with miniml temperture derese. The temperture nd fn speed re ontrolled utomtilly nd nnot e ontrolled y the ontroller. Dry opertion will not funtion if the room temperture is too low. Ventiltion.In this mode, the spe gets ventilted, ut not ooled or heted. Air Clen. In this mode, the optionl ir lening unit opertes. Ventiltion + Air Clen. Comintion of ventiltion nd ir len opertion. Auto. In Auto mode, the indoor unit utomtilly swithes etween heting nd ooling mode, s required y the setpoint. Depending on the indoor unit, more or less opertion modes re ville Aout the opertion modes Cooling If the indoor unit is ooling-only model, it n only e set to run in Cooling, Fn only, or Dry opertion mode. If the opertion mode hngeover of n indoor unit is under entrlised ontrol ('hngeover under entrlised ontrol' sttus ion linking in the home sreen), then it is NOT possile to hnge the opertion mode of tht indoor unit. For more informtion, see "Swith Cooling/Heting mster" on pge 24. If the outdoor ir temperture is high, it n tke some time until the indoor room temperture rehes the setpoint temperture. If the indoor room temperture is low, nd the indoor unit is set to run in Cooling, the indoor unit n swith to run in defrost opertion first (i.e. heting opertion), this to prevent frost from forming on the indoor unit het exhnger, whih n derese the system's ooling pity. During defrost opertion, the system uses low fn speed or gentle wind to prevent the dishrge of melt wter, while the ontroller displys the set fn speed. Heting When running in Heting opertion mode, the system requires longer time to reh the setpoint temperture thn when running in Cooling opertion mode. To mke up for this, it is reommended to let the system strt opertion in dvne y mking use of the timer funtion. To prevent old drfts nd redution of the system's heting pity, the system n run in the following speil heting opertion modes: 5

6 6 Opertion Defrost Opertion Desription To prevent the loss of heting pity due to frost umultion in the outdoor unit, the system will utomtilly swith to defrost opertion. During defrost opertion, the indoor unit fn will stop opertion, nd the following ion will pper on the home sreen: 2 Use nd to selet n opertion mode. Hot strt (VRV only) Dry The system will resume norml opertion fter pproximtely 6 to 8 minutes. During hot strt, the indoor unit fn will stop opertion, nd the following ion will pper on the home sreen: When the system is stopped while the indoor unit is running in Heting opertion mode, the fn will ontinue to operte for pproximtely 1 minute, this to get out ny het remining in the indoor unit. The lower the outdoor ir temperture, the lower the heting pity. If the system's heting pity is insuffiient, it is reommended to inlude nother heting ppline into the setup (if you use omustion ppline, ventilte the room regulrly. Also, do not use the heting ppline in ples where it is exposed to the irflow of the indoor unit). The indoor unit is of the hot ir irultion type. As result, fter opertion strt, it tkes the indoor unit some time to wrm up the room. The indoor unit fn will utomtilly operte until the indoor temperture of the system rises to ertin level. When hot ir stys under the eiling nd your feet feel old, it is reommended to inlude irultor into the setup. NOTICE To prevent wter lekge or system filure, do NOT turn off the system immeditely fter indoor unit opertion. Before turning off the system, wit until the drin pump finishes dishrging ny wter remining in the indoor unit (pproximtely 1 minute). To ensure smooth strt, do not turn off the system while it is operting. 3 Press to tivte. Result: The indoor unit hnges its opertion mode nd the ontroller returns to the home sreen. 6.3 Airflow Airflow diretion The irflow diretion is the diretion in whih the indoor unit lows its ir. Aout irflow diretion The following irflow diretions n e set: Diretion Fixed position. The indoor unit lows ir in 1 of 5 fixed positions. Swing. The indoor unit lterntes etween the 5 positions. Auto. The indoor unit djusts its irflow diretion ording to movement sensed y movement sensor. Sreen Depending on the type of indoor unit, nd/or on system lyout nd orgnistion, Auto irflow diretion my not e ville. For some types of indoor unit, you nnot set the irflow diretion. To set the irflow diretion 1 Nvigte to the irflow diretion menu To set the opertion mode 1 Nvigte to the opertion mode menu. 2 Use nd to djust the irflow diretion. 6

7 6 Opertion 2 Use nd to djust the fn speed. 3 Press to onfirm. Result: The indoor unit hnges its irflow diretion nd the ontroller returns to the home sreen Fn speed The fn speed is the strength of the irflow oming out of the indoor unit. Aout fn speed Depending on the indoor unit, you n hoose etween either: 2 fn speeds Fn speed Sreen 3 Press to onfirm. Result: The indoor unit hnges its fn speed nd the ontroller returns to the home sreen. 6.4 Ventiltion Ventiltion settings n ONLY e mde for het relim ventiltion units Ventiltion mode The het relim ventiltion unit n operte in vrious opertion modes. 3 fn speeds 5 fn speeds Ion Ventiltion mode Energy Relim Ventiltion. The outdoor ir is supplied to the room fter pssing through het exhnger. Bypss. The outdoor ir is supplied to the room without pssing through het exhnger. Auto. To ventilte the room in the most effiient wy, the het relim ventiltion unit utomtilly swithes etween "Bypss" nd "Energy Relim Ventiltion" mode (sed on internl lultions). Some indoor units dditionlly support Automti fn speed. In this se, the indoor unit djusts its fn speed utomtilly, ording to the setpoint nd indoor temperture. Automti Fn speed Sreen Depending on the het relim ventiltion unit, more or less ventiltion modes re ville. NOTICE Before strting up the system, the unit MUST e energised for t lest 6 hours to void ompressor rekdown during strtup. To ensure smooth strt, do not turn off the system while it is operting. For mehnil protetion purposes, it is possile tht the indoor unit swithes itself to 'Automti fn speed' mode. If the fn stops operting, this does not neessrily men system filure. The fn n stop operting t ll times. It my tke some time efore hnges mde to fn speed settings re tully rried out. To set the ventiltion mode 1 Nvigte to the ventiltion mode menu. 2 Use nd to selet ventiltion mode. To set the fn speed 1 Nvigte to the fn speed menu. 3 Press to tivte. Result: The het relim ventiltion unit hnges its opertion mode nd the ontroller returns to the home sreen. 7

8 7 Mintenne nd servie Ventiltion rte The ventiltion rte is the fn speed during ventiltion opertion. To set the ventiltion rte 1 Nvigte to the ventiltion rte menu. 2 Use nd to djust the ventiltion rte. 3 Press to onfirm. Result: The het relim ventiltion unit hnges its ventiltion rte nd the ontroller returns to the home sreen. 6.5 Advned opertion The ontroller only llows for si opertion. For dvned opertion, use the Dikin Control Assistnt pp To mke Bluetooth onnetion Prerequisite: You hve moile devie on whih the Dikin Control Assistnt pp is instlled nd running. Prerequisite: Your moile devie supports Bluetooth version Open the Dikin Control Assistnt pp nd follow the instrutions from there. 7 Mintenne nd servie 7.1 Overview: Mintenne When the system is in error, or the indoor unit needs to e mintined, onsult your deler. 9 8 Aout the ox For the instller 8 Aout the ox 8.1 To unpk the ontroller 1 Open the ox. 2 Seprte the essories Mounting the ontroller Aout mounting the ontroller Before you n mount the ontroller, you hve to determine the wiring routing, nd ordingly, remove piee of the ontroller's rer sing. The wiring n e routed from the top, the rer, the left, or the ottom. Remove piee of the rer sing ording to the illustrtion: Instlltion nd opertion mnul Wood srews + wll plugs (Ø4.0 30) 9 Preprtion 9.1 Wiring requirements All wiring must omply with the following requirements: Wire speifition Vlue Type Shethed vinyl ord or le (2 wires) Setion 0.75~1.25 mm 2 Mximum length 500 m To prepre the wiring for instlltion 1 Peel the sheth of the prt of the le tht needs to pss through the inside of the rer sing (L), ording to the figure nd the tle. 2 Keep 10 mm distne etween the length of the 2 wires. 10 mm L Wiring from the top Wiring from the left Wiring from the ottom In se you re routing the wiring from the rer, you don't hve to remove nything. When routing the wiring from the top or from the rer, insert the wiring through the knokout hole efore mounting the rer sing to the wll To mount the ontroller 1 Tke the srews nd plugs from the essory g. 2 Mount the rer sing to flt surfe. Wiring outlet Top Left Bottom Rer L ±150 mm ±120 mm ±100 mm No requirements 10 Instlltion 10.1 Overview: Instlltion The instlltion of the ontroller typilly onsists of the following stges: 1 Determining how you wnt to route the eletril wiring, nd nipping wy piee of the rer sing ordingly. 2 Mounting the rer sing to the wll. 3 Conneting the eletril wiring. 4 Closing the ontroller. NOTICE Be reful not to distort the rer sing y overtightening the mounting srews. 9

From the ottom CAUTION When onneting the ontroller to the indoor unit, mke sure the indoor unit swithox nd trnsmission wiring re not onneted. NOTICE The wiring for onnetion is NOT inluded. NOTICE When wiring, run the wiring wy from the power supply wiring in order to void reeiving eletri noise (externl noise). P1 nd P2 hve no polrity To onnet the eletril wiring Connet ontroller terminls P1/P2 to indoor unit terminls P1/P2. From the top P1P2 P1P Closing the ontroller Preutions when losing the ontroller CAUTION Never touh the internl prts of the ontroller. CAUTION When losing the ontroller, e reful not to pinh the wiring. NOTICE To prevent dmge, mke sure the front of the ontroller is liked into the rer sing seurely To lose the ontroller 1 Clik the front of the ontroller into the rer sing. From the rer P1P2 2 2 When the instlltion site is dust free, peel off the protetive sel. 10

11 11 Strting up the system 10.5 Opening the ontroller Preutions when opening the ontroller 11.1 Mster nd slve ontroller NOTICE The ontroller PCB is mounted into the front sing. When opening the ontroller, e reful not to dmge the PCB. NOTICE When the front nd rer sing re seprted, mke sure the PCB does not ome into ontt with dust or moisture To open the ontroller 1 Insert flt hed srewdriver into one of the ottom losing mehnisms nd slowly twist it. d Outdoor unit Indoor unit Mster remote ontroller Slve remote ontroller 11.2 To designte ontroller s slve Prerequisite: A mster ontroller is lredy onneted to the indoor unit. 1 Connet seond ontroller. Result: It will strt up utomtilly. 2 Wit for U5 or U8 error to pper on the sreen. d 11 Strting up the system CAUTION Before strting up the system, mke sure: The indoor nd outdoor unit wiring is ompleted. The swith ox overs of the indoor nd outdoor units re losed. It is only possile to use mster nd slve ontroller of the sme type. In se digitl input dpter BRP7A5* is prt of the system, it is not possile to onnet nd designte seond ontroller. Conneting seond ontroller when the system lredy ontins the dpter, will use the dpter to go in error. The ontroller gets its power from the indoor unit. It will strt up s soon s it is onneted. For the ontroller to e operle, therefore mke sure the indoor unit is powered on. One the ontroller is powered, it will utomtilly strt up. If it is the first nd only ontroller tht is onneted to the indoor unit, it will utomtilly get designted s mster ontroller. For seond ontroller to get designted s slve ontroller, mnul tion is required. For instrutions, see "11.2 To designte ontroller s slve" on pge When the U5 or U8 error ppers, press nd keep it pressed until "2" ppers on the sreen. Result: The ontroller is now designted s slve. If the slve ontroller does not disply the home sreen two minutes fter its designtion, turn off the power nd hek the wiring. 12 Opertion 12.1 Buttons - + e d 11

12 12 Opertion d ON/OFF When OFF, press to turn ON the system. As result, the sttus inditor (e) will turn ON too. When ON, press to turn OFF the system. As result, the sttus inditor (e) will turn OFF too. ENTER/ACTIVATE /SET From the home sreen, enter the min menu. From the min menu, enter one of the sumenus. Stte OFF ON fintly Desription After period of opertion intivity, the klight will either turn OFF, or go into fint ON stte, depending on opertion onditions: Opertion OFF: klight OFF, Opertion ON: klight ON fintly. Bklight stte hngeover fter intivity is set with remote ontroller field setting R1-8 (No-opertion timer). Bklight fintness is set with remote ontroller field setting R1-10 (Bklight fintness). For more informtion, see "Remote ontroller field settings" on pge Sttus inditor 12.2 Sreen Home sreen Depending on instller onfigurtion, the ontroller either hs stndrd or detiled home sreen. In most ses, the stndrd home sreen gives you only the tive opertion mode, messges (if ny), nd the setpoint temperture (in se of Cooling, Heting, or Auto opertion mode). The detiled home sreen gives you ll kinds of informtion through sttus ions. Bklight The sreen klight hs the following sttes: Informtion sreen The informtion sreen ollets the following informtion: Informtion Softwre version Desription The informtion sreen will lwys ontin the ltest softwre version. Stte ON Desription For the ontroller to e operle, the sreen klight needs to e ON (otherwise the ontroller does not detet ny utton presses). To turn ON the klight, press shortly. The reset timer funtionlity of the key rd ontt hs priority over the window ontt when returning to the previous stte: When the key rd ontt is opened while the window ontt is open, the dely timer will strt running. When the dely timer expires the reset timer will strt running. When the reset timer expires, the previous stte is updted to the "Defult Reset Setting" stte. Exmple 1 1 You remove the key rd. Result: The indoor unit ontinues operting normlly until the dely timer expires. 2 You open the window efore the dely timer expires. Result: The indoor unit stops immeditely. It is not possile to turn the unit on or off, the dely timer stops ounting, nd the reset timer strts ounting. 3 You insert the key rd gin. Result: An updte of the previous stte ours. The unit is fored off (see "Window ontt logi" on pge 22). IF the reset timer HAS NOT expired efore inserting the key rd, the previous stte is the sme s the originl stte euse there ws only hnge to the originl stte. IF the reset timer HAS expired efore inserting the key rd, the previous stte is the "Defult Reset Setting" stte. 4 You lose the window. Result: The unit reverts to the previous stte. The previous stte depends on the expirtion of the reset timer. Exmple 2 1 You open the window. Result: The unit stops immeditely. It is not possile to turn the unit on or off with the ON/OFF utton, nd the dely timer does not strt ounting. 2 You remove the key rd. Result: The dely timer strts ounting. 3 You lose the window gin. Result: There is no hnge in stte. It is s if you never opened the window. IF the dely timer HAS expired efore losing the window, the reset timer will hve strted ounting. Closing the window hs no influene on the reset timer. IF the dely timer HAS NOT expired efore losing the window, it will expire immeditely nd the reset timer will strt ounting. When the reset timer expires, the previous stte is updted to the "Defult Reset Setting" stte. 4 You insert the key rd gin. One outdoor unit does not llow for one indoor unit to perform Cooling opertion, while nother performs Heting opertion. To fore fn opertion Prerequisite: You re in the instller menu. 1 Nvigte to the Fore Fn ON menu. Therefore, the system requires tht one indoor unit is set s ooling/ heting mster. This indoor unit then deides the opertion modes in whih the other (slve) indoor units n run. When one indoor unit is set s ooling/heting mster, the other indoor units utomtilly eome its slves.
